Tick 'n' go Birding: January 2015
http://tickngobirding.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tick 'n' go Birding. Saturday, 31 January 2015. Gunners park Essex for Serins. The day started well for Jimmy and myself when 4 Redpoll come into our garden and land on our feeders to give us a year tick, this goes along with the male Blackcap that came to see us in the garden a couple of days ago. The signs are not good when we are told that the bird has not been seem for a long time despite there being a fair number of people looking for it. Just a bad record shot. Sunday, 25 January 2015. We park up a...

Tick 'n' go Birding. Sunday, 26 April 2015. Great day just birding.gets us 3 Dotterel Grasshopper warbler. Up and out before 5 am, we pull into the Lakenheath car park that still had lighting on the posts. As soon as we are out of the car we hear and then see our first Cuckoo of the year, we set off to walk down to Joist hide taking the top route for half the way and hear and see Sedge and Reed warbler, then a nice Whitethroat sits up in front of us , it's to dark for a photo. Pleasant time spent here me...

Tick 'n' go Birding: August 2015
http://tickngobirding.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Tick 'n' go Birding. Monday, 31 August 2015. More of the Merlin. 5 Year ticks at Dunge plus a great Merlin at Elmley. Once again we head off early to Dungeness for the third week running, driving down towards the lighthouse it is completely different from last week with no birds apart from Gulls seen, after the influx that we saw last it's not looking to good for us as we knew before we set out that the weather was not in our favour for birds passing through up on the beach. A scan over by the power stat...

Marshland Meanderings: August 2014
http://marshlandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
The comings and goings of birds on a Norfolk grazing marsh with occasional forays further afield. Monday, 25 August 2014. Red-backed Shrike and Passenger Pigeons. The nearby Hobbies added to the local raptor success story with at least two very vocal youngsters fledging on Friday. Bizarrely, one flew past the house calling loudly after dark last night. It was hunting very actively and successfully, catching insects almost every time it sallied from its perches on various bramble patches. Flies, bees ...

Marshland Meanderings: March 2014
http://marshlandmeanderings.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
The comings and goings of birds on a Norfolk grazing marsh with occasional forays further afield. Saturday, 29 March 2014. Dusky Warbler at Oulton Marshes. It was quiet again in the lambing field this morning and younger daughter wanted me out of the way to prepare a Mothers Day surprise giving me the perfect excuse for a visit to the Dusky. Walking back along Fisher Row, Brimstone, Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies were out in force and a familiar song revealed my first Blackcap of the year.

The comings and goings of birds on a Norfolk grazing marsh with occasional forays further afield. Monday, 11 May 2015. Hudsonian Godwit and Great Blue Heron. We watched it for a good hour then headed to Juliet's Garden for a celebratory lunch which happened to coincide with the spectacle of 150 brightly coloured gigs racing from St Agnes to Hugh Town. The roar of the crowds was audible across the harbour. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hudsonian Godwit and Great Blue Heron. I started birding as a ch...
