New: Future engines new heads? The Pentastar engines were created by Chrysler engineers for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram; a Ferrari-re-engineered version is built for Maserati. The Pentastar 3.6 liter V6 engine pumps out 305 horsepower in the Dodge Challenger. And the 2013 Ram. A 3-liter twin-turbo version is on the way (it will probably be less powerful than the 404 horsepower version used by Maserati). Direct injection is coming with the PUG Pentastar upgrade. Pentastar Engines: Ferrari-Maserati-Alfa Romeo Version. Ferrari has designed a variant of the Pentastar V6 which is very different from the Chrysler version, but uses the same basic design. The engine is primarily used by Maserati, but is expected to go into various Alfa Romeo cars. With twin turbochargers, the Maserati - Ferrari V6 achieves 404 horsepower. Chrysler is reportedly working on their own turbocharged V6 engines, which are likely to produce less power but also cost far less to produce.
