musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: December 2007
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Saturday, 29 December 2007. The current state of nationalistic Islam has curious and somewhat disturbing parallels to the state of the church in the 1500s. If history repeats itself, this time the world is in far deeper trouble than mere Jewish subjugation, inquisition, schisms, and Protestantism. That Protestantism arose as a conceptual and doctrinal reaction to the ills of that time is understandable. Presently, we see numerous cases of religion-fuelled vi...

Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Wednesday, 27 June 2007. I have a huge backlog of posts to put up and backdate. Half of which are on the newly resurrected iBook and the other half on the PC. I'll get around to it soon, but in the interests of relieving my current state of extreme boredom, I will now engage in a little post theft (thanks Charmaine! 1 Name: Christopher Peter Kwok Zhi Wei. 2 Nicknames: none that bear mentioning in polite society. 3 Date of birth: 3 August 1982. 25 Favourite m...

musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: October 2007
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Wednesday, 31 October 2007. Agency versus acceptance. That’s the thrust of my last tutorial. The question it raises is simply ‘is it better to change your life from without, or to change your life from within’? The bulk of interventions focus on external change: quantifiable, objective, operationalisable change. If you change what you are, you change who you are. That’s an empowerment and self-validation that few can beat. Set into writ by slackalmighty.

musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: Kirsten Bell wasn't naked. Boo!
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2008/04/kirsten-bell-wasnt-naked-boo.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Wednesday, 30 April 2008. Kirsten Bell wasn't naked. Boo! Had a pretty busy day yesterday. Woke up and did some constructive job-hunting, read a bit, then went down to the city with Joe and Daryl to pick up something for Shawn’s birthday. We ended up going to the Hungry Jack’s (I still don’t understand, Burger King is such a good name! Along Stirling Highway to grab a bite, wile away time, and play a round or three of Magic. Went over to Shawn’s place ...

musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: Check and balance.
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2008/05/check-and-balance.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Saturday, 3 May 2008. Char said something yesterday that I thought was a very good point. She said that Protestantism is a means of keeping Catholicism in check, and vice versa. If Martin Luther didn’t kick-start the Protestant Reformation, then the Counter-reformation would never have happened, and the upper echelons of the Church would probably be just as messed up today. We have Protestantism to thank for the way the Church is today. Perth, WA, Australia.

musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: Moving house.
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2008/05/moving-house.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Saturday, 3 May 2008. I think I've outgrown this online space. I've been at one of life's crossroads for a while, and I haven't really moved. In recent months I've allowed myself to become self-indulgent. I haven't really thought things through, and go through life reacting to other people. In that, I haven't been the best. I'll be keeping this blog active, but I'm moving my blogging here. A sort of fresh start, if you will. Set into writ by slackalmighty.

musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: November 2007
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Wednesday, 28 November 2007. Went around the Margaret River region a bit, randomly sampling wines along the way. Found a nice rose, which was lunch together with some olives, cheese and crackers while on the beach. I’ve got the last dregs of it next to me now actually; it really is quite good. Apparently the Cellarbrations at Parry Avenue carries that line of wines as well. Guess who’s going to rock up pretty soon? Heading home tomorrow. Even though the ...

musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent: August 2007
http://slackalmighty.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Musings too bothersome to be otherwise silent. Friday, 31 August 2007. Three brief things I want to say before bed:. 1) I saw a bloke today who looked like Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings. Seriously. Imagine this: tall, slightly tanned old white fellow, long white beard and moustache, long white hair, slightly hooked nose, piercing blue eyes. Slap a robe and a staff on him and you can almost hear him yell, ‘You shall not pass! Too bad I didn’t have a camera. Hope you have a good one! Sometimes we are ...
