Carpe Gaudium: November 2009
http://carpegaudium.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Which has far too many pictures of cats. Monday, November 30, 2009. This, people, is precisely my philosophy. Seriously, some things just need to be ignored. Also, the website above always has great/cool/interesting stuff going on. I'm excited about their most recent post about the now-declassified (hilarious and yet still interesting looking) CIA manual from the Cold War. That time period fascinates me, so if you've read the book, let me know if it is cool enough to check out. Sunday, November 29, 2009.

Carpe Gaudium: Beware!
http://carpegaudium.blogspot.com/2010/03/beware.html
Which has far too many pictures of cats. Monday, March 22, 2010. The ides of March! Anyway, my ides were fine. I've had a midterm each week, and I have one left (an oral report/presentation) before the break. I had a lovely last week, making birthday cards, baking, drinking with friends, and being vegan with guests from out of town. Pictures to come. One week and three classes left until Spring Break comes, bringing with it one of my favorite midwesterners. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Deeply uncommitted to wasting time on the internet. A little moment of glass and yellow light. Yesterday a friend and I collectively waited in line for about 5 hours to get rush tickets to the Metropolitan Opera’s Nixon in China. I’m still in awe about the experience. The Met! In New York City! Full of INSANELY rich people who do this all the time just because. But also the quality of the production was the best I’ve ever seen live. Also: Real acting! February 16, 2011. 1 When I was in the first day of f...

Carpe Gaudium: May 2010
http://carpegaudium.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Which has far too many pictures of cats. Monday, May 3, 2010. I've run out of food in my fridge, except for 1/2 a can of black beans, two kiwis, and a bag of frozen peas. Does anyone know a good recipe for pea-beans? Mmmm, pea-beans. That sounds repulsive. Anyway, be prepared for a slew of boring/insane updates on progress here. If you want to track it, here's what I've got:. 1 presentation on my Lion King paper on 5/6. The last chance to turn in a draft for review of this paper on 5/12.

Carpe Gaudium: April 2010
http://carpegaudium.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Which has far too many pictures of cats. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. So, when one of my friends came by from out of town, we tried out the aforementioned plan about Katz's. Everything seemed to be going fine: we skipped lunch, and for an early dinner had some tourist cart food before wandering down to Houston Street to do the Katz's thing. That's when everything went horribly awry. Because that sandwich? The $14.95 pastrami sandwich? This blog has a great quick summary of my experience. Imagine Me and You.

Carpe Gaudium: June 2009
http://carpegaudium.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Which has far too many pictures of cats. Thursday, June 4, 2009. So I went on this vacation thingy. First the twin and I drove to Milwaukee. Then we got on a plane (run by a terrible airline. This is the one bit I don't even try to capture on film. It's impossible. We coast back to Rincon high on caffeine and an undefinable joy, and are rocked to sleep by the waves. What else is there? Photos to come, once I fix the camera situation. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Black Maps: science politics comics maps.

Which has far too many pictures of cats. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Beijing loves IKEA - but not for shopping - LA Times. The difference between America and the rest of the world? Monday, August 24, 2009. Not to be a jerk, but I can only once recall seeing a movie where I did not anticipate the ending. It was The Prestige. Is why it was such a good movie. It tricked me, tricked everyone I'd talked to, made me stand up and say "How? I loved it. I loved that feeling. And sitting up quickly. And then b...
