Thursday, March 19, 2015. Cure for Over-gardening: The Right-size Flower Garden. It's like getting old - we deny it's happening despite all the signs. It's an inevitable period that we ignore as handily as we ignore muscle aches after our first day in the garden after a long winter. We've lived a life filling up at a giant buffet of plants and opportunities. But now one plateful is all we have room for. For want of a better word, let's call it "over-gardening.". Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Of Course They Come in Blue- Bring on the Spray Paint! I'm still getting comments on the piece I wrote about a s. Ucculent that had been painted blue. Apparently, to gain the attention of unsuspecting consumers who don't realize that it isn't real. It would have been nice if the plant come with a label disclosing that it had been spray painted and eventually grow out of its color. Was worth. But in the big scheme of things, it was a relatively inexpensive lesson to learn.

Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Getting Plants Ready for Indoors. I repotted my orchids today. Although the experts say they shouldn't be repotted often, I needed to address the likelihood that some insect stowaways took up residence in their soil. I love mixing my own potting material up- it's probably related to my enjoyment of cooking. And this time of year it can be done outside. All but two of my orchids repotted in clean mix. I'd placed an order with Kelly's Korner Orchid Supplies. As for the orchids.

The resort town of Vilamoura has a long garden in the middle of the main avenue. This is the shady part by a fast food restaurant that shall remain nameless. It is a lovely place to jog, cycle, walk the dog (on a lead) or just stroll and relax. You can hear the cars going by but there is also birdsong and the chatter of people enjoying themselves.
