Peter Frailey Photography :: Blog: October 2014

http://peterfraileyphoto.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Peter Frailey Photography : Blog. Searching for Autumn Color - Page 2. As a follow-up to my little excursion last Wednesday, which I commented on in the prior blog post, I decided that I would take last Friday (a week ago today) and explore a bit of southern New Hampshire. My goal was to drive "the long way" to Jaffrey, New Hampshire and the Mt. Monadnock area. A few from my fall excursion to Jaffrey:. In the center and in the distance is Mt. Monadnock. Smaller and further away than it actually is. I was...

Peter Frailey Photography : Blog. Two Weeks in Nova Scotia: Page 16: Digby to Home. This would be our last day of vacation. After boarding the ferry at 8 am, we arrived in St. John, New Brunswick three hours later, and then hussled through New Brunswick and Maine, and were home by dinner. The ferry left Digby. At 8am and had us in Saint John. From there it was a long drive home. 1) Digby fishing fleet in the morning. 2) The Digby to St. John Ferry. The "Princess of Acadia". 3) Blueberry fields in Maine.

Peter Frailey Photography : Blog. Now That's a Burger! I am spending a relaxing Sunday morning going through images from this past year, making decisions along the way as to what to keep and what to delete. I also want to be sure I have "keyworded" most images before moving all to their permanent folder on my hard drive. Probably because I had only a small breakfast this morning, when I came to the image shown below, taken last winter, I became quite hungry! Bacon and Blue Cheese Burger". It will be obvi...

Peter Frailey Photography : Blog. Two Weeks in Nova Scotia: Page 15: Wolfville to Digby. This day would be our final full day on Nova Scotia. Today's destination is the green pin, Digby. 1) First to breakfast at the Tattingstone Inn. 2) Hull's Cove: our low tide visit. The is the low tide shot that should be compared with. The high tide shot in the prior post. Wow! 3) Digby Scallop Fleet. Two Weeks in Nova Scotia: Page 14: Truro to Wolfville. Today's destination is the green pin, Wolfville. We're glad th...

Peter Frailey Photography :: Blog: Why I like my Sony a6000 more than my Olympus E-M1 (Part 3: The flash system-page 1)

http://peterfraileyphoto.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-i-like-my-sony-a6000-more-than-my.html

Peter Frailey Photography : Blog. Why I like my Sony a6000 more than my Olympus E-M1 (Part 3: The flash system-page 1). To be fair there are also reasons why I like my Olympus better than the a6000. They are both great systems but each has its pluses and minuses. I was delighted with how the Sony behaved when I first used the pop-up flash. But because it's a bit under-powered (very noticeable when bouncing off a higher than normal ceiling or when using narrow apertures), I bought the little but handy...

Peter's PEI Blog: Day 8-2: Anne of Green Gables country

http://peterspeiblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/day-8-2-anne-of-green-gables-country.html

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Friday, June 19, 2015. Day 8-2: Anne of Green Gables country. The first thing we did this morning, after our wonderful breakfast (see prior post) at My Mother's Country Inn, was visit the Green Gables. We wanted to get there at 9a to beat the first tour buses that we had heard were scheduled to arrive at 10a. Also part of the PEI Provincial Park is much of the coastline in this area. Here are a few pictures taken today. Labels: Anne of Green Gables.

Peter's PEI Blog: Day 4: A quick in and out visit to Charlottetown

http://peterspeiblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/day-4-quick-in-and-out-visit-to.html

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Thursday, June 11, 2015. Day 4: A quick in and out visit to Charlottetown. Charlottetown is the biggest city on the island. It's also the capital. Unfortunately we found ourselves competing on the sidewalks of the historic district with folks from a cruise ship. We were quite happy to leave Charlottetown and return to the rural landscape. Plus the sky started to give us patches of blue. Temp about 72F and a nice dry breeze. My Other Websites and Blogs.

Peter's PEI Blog: Day 7-3: Lobster dinner at "New Glasgow Lobster Suppers"

http://peterspeiblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/day-7-3-lobster-dinner-at-glasgow.html

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Monday, June 15, 2015. Day 7-3: Lobster dinner at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers. We thought this night we'd have a complete traditional PEI lobster Super. It was five courses. I'm writing this post the next day and I'm still full. At each course we were asked by our waitress Karen if we wanted seconds. We were smart enough to say "no". I'm so glad we avoided eating even more than we did. First course: seafood chowder. Fifth course: strawberry shortcake.

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Sunday, June 14, 2015. Day 7-2: from Georgetown to New Glasgow. We felt so lucky with today's weather. No sooner did we leave Georgetown in the rain then things got better. The clouds parted slowly and patches of blue sky appeared. Our destination was New Glasgow in what is known as Anne of Green Gables country. New Glasgow is the blue dot. Georgetown is the red pin. A selection of images from day 7:. June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Friday, June 19, 2015. Day 8-1: bed and breakfast in New Glasgow. Our first breakfast at My Mother's Country Inn. That is not yogurt on the fruit. Here's an explanation from kefir.net:. Tart and refreshing flavor is similar to a drinking-style yogurt, but it contains beneficial yeast as well as friendly 'probiotic' bacteria found in yogurt. My Mothers Country Inn. June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Day 9-1: A few last photos from My Mother's Country Inn. I took the first set of photos in the morning before breakfast, just walking around the property. I loved their barn! Another nice breakfast from Nellie and Ragnar. June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Day 3 to 4: The Orient Hotel bed and breakfast. The Orient Hotel is in Victoria. Victoria is old PEI: Old homes, a few very nice family run restaurants, and quiet. It's just over the bridge and to the east. See the blue dot below for location. Our hosts are Richard and Wendy LaGrange. This is Richard doing a bit of touch up painting before the season gets into full swing. The first floor common living room. Labels: Day 3 to 4.

Peter's PEI Blog: Day 10: Driving around Prince County on a dreary day

http://peterspeiblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/day-10-driving-around-prince-county-on.html

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Monday, June 22, 2015. Day 10: Driving around Prince County on a dreary day. This was probably our dreariest day. We did a lot of driving but the sightseeing was a bit limited due to the weather: Cloudy, windy and cold. The highlights for the day were (1) a very nice lunch in Northport and (2) a "show" of lobster boats coming into the Northport Pier with their day's catch. In addition to these two, there were four other diners behind us. In the boats...

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Saturday, June 13, 2015. Day 7-1: Leaving Georgetown in the rain. Things didn't look too promising in the morning when we got up. As much as we liked the sound of early morning rain on the roof, we also knew that once we got on the road to our next destination we'd be much happier with sunshine. We had a nice leisurely breakfast and checked out close to 11a. I took a few final shots from the guest balcony on the third floor. Day 3 to 4. Day 7-3: Lobs...

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Day 9-2: to West Point Lighthouse Inn. After departing from My Mother's Country Inn we stopped at the "Cheese Lady's" for some cheese and bread. Her specialty is Gouda cheese. Can you believe it! They make 16 varieties. We picked two: A mustard-pepper variety to consume for lunches with a loaf of their fresh "Country Loaf" multi-grain bread, and a Pesto variety to bring home. Using red dirt/mud from PEI. Day 3 to 4. Day 8-3: ...
