June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Friday, June 19, 2015. Day 8-2: Anne of Green Gables country. The first thing we did this morning, after our wonderful breakfast (see prior post) at My Mother's Country Inn, was visit the Green Gables. We wanted to get there at 9a to beat the first tour buses that we had heard were scheduled to arrive at 10a. Also part of the PEI Provincial Park is much of the coastline in this area. June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Thursday, June 11, 2015. Day 4: A quick in and out visit to Charlottetown. Charlottetown is the biggest city on the island. It's also the capital. Unfortunately we found ourselves competing on the sidewalks of the historic district with folks from a cruise ship. We were quite happy to leave Charlottetown and return to the rural landscape. Plus the sky started to give us patches of blue. Temp about 72F and a nice dry breeze. My Other Websites and Blogs.

June, 2015: A 12 day vacation to Prince Edward Island. Monday, June 15, 2015. Day 7-3: Lobster dinner at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers. We thought this night we'd have a complete traditional PEI lobster Super. It was five courses. I'm writing this post the next day and I'm still full. At each course we were asked by our waitress Karen if we wanted seconds. We were smart enough to say "no". I'm so glad we avoided eating even more than we did. First course: seafood chowder. Fifth course: strawberry shortcake.

No sooner did we leave Georgetown in the rain then things got better. The clouds parted slowly and patches of blue sky appeared. Victoria is old PEI: Old homes, a few very nice family run restaurants, and quiet. It's just over the bridge and to the east. See the blue dot below for location. We did a lot of driving but the sightseeing was a bit limited due to the weather: Cloudy, windy and cold. The highlights for the day were (1) a very nice lunch in Northport and (2) a "show" of lobster boats coming into the Northport Pier with their day's catch. After departing from My Mother's Country Inn we stopped at the "Cheese Lady's" for some cheese and bread. Her specialty is Gouda cheese. Can you believe it! They make 16 varieties.
