Arriving at the gite was easy thanks to the directions provided by the owner, Jamieson, who also telephoned to check that we didn't have any hold ups en route to delay us - a nice gesture. We found everything to be as the description promised - and then some! A superb sunny and tranquil location that was blessed with sunshine for more than 12 hours a day. The first thing you see when you enter Petit Champagne through the wrought iron gates are the large front gardens with numerous trees and parking for many cars in the gravelled areas. Both the chateau and the gite have their own private grassed and terraced areas. The remainder of the grounds, the walk by the lake, the pool and games room are shared between the two. The gite is set over two levels, located in one of the stone outbuildings with south facing views over the surrounding countryside. It was completely renovated in June 2012. Everything is brand new with full insulation (important in the hot summers), new bathrooms and kitchens from the UK and laminate flooring - slate laminate in the kitchen and bathrooms, and oak everywhere else. This fabulous Maison de Maitre dates back to 1825. The accommodation is across two floors and amounts to 420 square metres or 4,520 square feet.
