General Comments, Politics, Views and Opinions. Make your Vote Count. March 21, 2015. The system of optional preferential voting in NSW Legislative Assembly is different to the Australian Federal Election for the House of Representatives. Voting is Compulsory – That means you must get your name marked off. What you put on the paper is your business. In NSW you should to place a “1” in the box of your preferred candidate. The example below comes from the electoral commission and here you can see that alth...

General Comments, Politics, Views and Opinions. Labor – Liberal – Does it Matter? February 15, 2015. Well we are six weeks away from the next NSW State Election. It does seem sort of fashionable to not bother over much. That of itself is interesting. Four years ago it mattered quite a bit, after four terms of a Labor Government that seriously derailed itself essentially over integrity and corruption issues – at least that is how it seemed to me. Essentially the Labor Party has given priority to the socia...

General Comments, Politics, Views and Opinions. Lets Not Have a Referendum. May 24, 2015. The outstanding result of the Irish Plebiscite on changing the constitution to allow same gender couples to marry is significant. General Comments, Politics, Views and Opinions. February 7, 2015. One of the things I have been doing around the house of late is moving towards using more LED lighting. Some (my wife included) think I have been a little obsessive on the subject. I would suggest I try to do things. It is not much use walking half-halfway across the road. It has been a bit of a learning curve, however I hope a worthwhile one. I have replaced 150 watt flood lights (as downlights) in the Kitchen with four 7 watt Edison Scre...

General Comments, Politics, Views and Opinions. Good Point – but …. June 15, 2015. The Foreign Minister (of Australia) Julie Bishop has made a very good point. The best way for Indonesia to resolve any concerns it has about [Australia’s] Operation Sovereign Borders is for Indonesia to enforce sovereignty over its borders, she told the newspaper. The missing element at the moment is that the Prime Minister refuse to affirm or deny the claims, but instead has used morally relativistic to suggest that even ...
