Phyllis Thomas: March 2012
http://phyllisthomasart.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 30, 2012. My meditations for Lent this year started on Ash Wednesday and continued throughout the season with daily scripture reading and thoughtful research. These images were responses to those meditations. I used thread and stitching in each image to unify the work as a meditative action bringing me back to the mending and healing of Christ’s death and resurrection. He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—. Holy and awesome is his name. Psalm 111.9. At fir...

Sunday, May 19, 2013. My Annual Art Retreat for 2013 is complete. It’s sad and yet exciting for now I move forward with everything I discovered. I’m never disappointed by what shows up in God’s creation and it is always something different. I try to get out of my routine while here. . . .stay up a little later, sleep a little later, mix-up my meal times, give myself permission to be. Songs of the Sea. I imagined the ocean in concert with all its parts complementing one another: the roaring forte of the o...

Friday, March 29, 2013. Acrylic on paper and 24K gold leaf. Rhaps I've begun a tradition: the last two years I've made artwork for my Lenten meditation. This year the piece was a surprise and turned out different than the image I had in my head. Below is the reflection from making this piece:. Leviticus 17:1; Hebrews 9:11-12; Ephesians 1:7; Ephesians 2:13; Ephesians 2:8-9. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Orlando, FL, United States. michelle's art experiments: April 2011

Saturday, April 30, 2011. Inspiration from the garden. These are turmeric roots from the garden, peeled and boiled. I love all the different shades of yellow and orange. A painting or drawing might be born out of the inspiration from these roots eventually, but for now, here is the original. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. michelle's art experiments: January 2012
http://michellesartexperiments.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 15, 2012. This painting is 16x20" done in water soluble oils. It's called "I Choose Hope" and it has those words scribbled in paint over and over again on the lower half of the painting. I was really interested in conveying light.choosing to look at light, at hope instead of the opposite. The image was originally taken from a reference photo of a sunset that I abstracted into an emotional landscape. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. My favorite places to visit.

michelle's art experiments: September 2011
http://michellesartexperiments.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 24, 2011. I have been looking at my painting for a while now, and just couldn't bring myself back to the painting. I finally figured out that I didn't enjoy looking at it. I had to ask myself, if I don't enjoy looking at my painting, why would I ask anyone else to? Don't get me wrong, I am not painting only for an audience, but I am aware that I have a desire to share my expressions. Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Trading Art with Ralph. Wednesday, September 26, 2012. These are some artist trading cards I recently painted for a group called Enchanted Orlando. They are all in India ink, on paper, the size of baseball cards. It's funny how the tiny size of these works of art make them seem fun, like somehow you are creating toys or some secret message. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. michelle's art experiments: March 2013
http://michellesartexperiments.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 29, 2013. Back to paint layers. Too much thinking has left me abandoning my paintbrush for weeks. Today I was inspired by a color, and that is how I began. I just wanted to look at a color, and then I painted. As usual I have no idea where these paintings are going, but it will be an adventure that I have to keep forcing myself to take. michelle's art experiments: October 2011
http://michellesartexperiments.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 27, 2011. I worked back into the eagle painting finally bringing it to a conclusion. I think I have managed to stop at a point where the painting retains the energy and feeling of freedom both in composition and in brush stroke. This is a painting I am happy to look at. And now to play around in India ink. Sunday, October 23, 2011. Layer 2 and 2.5. Saturday, October 22, 2011. Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Where the Eagle Landed. Friday, October 14, 2011. I have fallen in love with India Ink and the watery quality of brilliant colors that can be layered across a white gessoed board. I also dabble in water soluble oil and acrylic painting. Besides using paint to create my art, I also mess around with words from time to time. View my complete profile. My favorite places to visit. Like me on ArtExperiments by Michelle Facebook Page.

Wednesday, June 1, 2011. The buttery quality of oil paints. This is just the beginning layer, but I thought I would share it anyway since the whole point of this blog in the first place was to document my experiments. I included my palette just for fun. Friday, March 10, 2017. Another activity I do when stuck is read about other artists. I subscribe to a weekly email titled Sam and Joe - TextileArtist.org. Their letter features various textile artists and processes. Recently I read one of the posts and found inspiration for combining stitching with natural forms by artist Alice Fox.I often incorporate thread and stitching in my paintings but this time I was inspired to combine thread with natural forms on raw linen sans paint.
