Ari's Travel Blog: Update: Travel Plans Canceled AGAIN
http://arimargolin.blogspot.com/2008/03/update-travel-plans-canceled-again.html
Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Update: Travel Plans Canceled AGAIN. Tomorrow, I was scheduled to go to Paris. Unfortunately, this will no longer be possible for two reasons: (a) because it's spring break, all cheap accommodations in Paris SOLD OUT within 48 hours; and (b) I came down with the flu. Yesterday night, I was running a small fever and will not be fit to travel. Fuckin' A! Tant pis pour Paris cette fois, mais jouisses bien de Bordeaux ; j'ai entendu parler qu'il y ait de belle contrée là-bas! I am ...

Ari's Travel Blog: Tour Eiffel
http://arimargolin.blogspot.com/2008/05/tour-eiffel.html
Saturday, May 10, 2008. Here's a good pic of the Tour Eiffel at midday, overlooking the Seine River. It is possible to climb to the top of the Tower (well, 800/1000 ft of it); however, I'm not. Plus, I'd have to wait AT LEAST 2 hours in line for that particular pleasure. Mmm, no; it wasn't something that I really wanted to do. However, I walked along the banks of the Seine, which was just as good, and enjoyed a sausage with Dijon mustard. Yummy! Next: The Musée Louvre. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Ari's Travel Blog: Arc de Triomphe
http://arimargolin.blogspot.com/2008/05/arc-de-triomphe.html
Saturday, May 10, 2008. At about 9:45 am local time, I woke up, dressed, and took the Paris Metro down to the Station Franklin D. Roosevelt. This took directly to the famous Champs Elysées. (You can see part of it with the Arc de Triomphe.) I walked down the street shown above to the Arc. Like I said, awesome view. But the Arc de Triomphe is more than just a nice spot to view Paris for the French. It is a memorial to all of the fallen soldiers in French war history. Underneath the Arc are ded...Outside o...

Ari's Travel Blog: Paris, France
http://arimargolin.blogspot.com/2008/05/paris-france.html
Saturday, May 10, 2008. After several months wait, I have FINALLY arrived in Paris. This is my second night in the City of Lights, and I'm having the best time. I'm staying in the 11ème arrondissement (district) of Paris, approximately two miles away from the Gare Austerlitz, and about five miles from. It's quiet and doesn't seem like there's a lot of bullshit going on at night, which is nice. Next up: Arc de Triomphe). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Le Pont, St. Cyprien-République in Toulouse.

Ari's Travel Blog: Bordeaux, France
http://arimargolin.blogspot.com/2008/04/bordeaux-france.html
Friday, April 4, 2008. I went to Bordeaux, France for the day. It was AWESOME. I have wonderful pics and some information about the. Above is a pic of the walking mall (or part of it). The tall figures are masked actors on stilts- I'm not exactly sure what the precise word is in English, but they date back to the Middle Ages. They're typically seen in places such as Paris, Bordeaux, (sometimes) Toulouse, and other cities whose history pre-dates 1400. The sauce made my stomach a little queasy, as it proba...

Ari's Travel Blog: Announcement, etc.
http://arimargolin.blogspot.com/2008/03/announcement-etc.html
Monday, March 31, 2008. I had a wonderful time on my birthday. It was 75 degrees with light humidity and a lot of sun. After catching up with my laundry, I went and had a little picnic along the banks of the Garonne near the Pont. It was so nice. Yesterday, I studied for my M.A. comps; I read Isabelle de Charrière and a bit of Gabriel Naudé. Pretty uneventful. Today, I published the official website for the. Eighteenth Century Revisited Conference. So much to do, so little time. Several of you may also wa...
