A few years ago I wrote a number of applets for UCB's Physics C21/Letters and Sciences C70W course Physics and Music. Each applet demonstrates some concept we were teaching. For programming ideas. Some of the startup code is modelled after his. I used the NetBeans IDE. These require Java 1.6 or later. Add up three harmonics and see the resulting superposition. [.jar]. Shows the pressure wave in a penny whistle. [.jar]. Demonstrates recording of sound onto a moving surface. [.jar]. And then messed up by me.

This page is mainly for me to provide a place for me to post the Irish tunes that I know or at one point in time knew. When I get a chance I play Irish fiddle at various sessions and try not to annoy the regulars too much. Having been classically trained I still have some bad habbits and don't have that Irish lilt to my playing. And the answer to a common question: Yes, a fiddle is a violin, just played in a different style. Irish tunes and commentary. Yet more Irish tunes. And then messed up by me.

Morris dancing is an old English folk dance. There are a number of theories as to its age and origins but we do know that it was around in Shakespear's time. It is danced in teams and I am a member of the Maroon Bells Morris.
