Tröbnitz ist ein Ort mit etwas über 500 Einwohnern, liegt im Tal der Roda und des Rothehofbaches und wird von sanften Hügeln umschlossen. Die Gemeinde befindet sich im Saale-Holzland-Kreis (SHK), welcher nach einer Gebietsreform aus den Kreisen Stadtroda, Eisenberg und Jena-Land entstanden ist und sich im Osten des Freistaates Thüringen befindet.
