David's Garden Place

Sunday, July 24, 2011. The mid summer garden in Florida is much like the mid winter garden of the north, not much at all going on, too hot for most veggies except cotton and sweet potatoes. Its a good time to pile up the compost and start planning for the upcoming fall growing season. This morning I was happily surprised by a blooming sweet potato vine. Sweet taters are part of the morning glory family and produce a similar flower. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Record Melon, Home Grown Cotton Balls. Our Reise...

David's Garden Place: April 17 Garden Journal

http://www.planesandplants.blogspot.com/2011/04/april-17-garden-journal.html

Sunday, April 17, 2011. April 17 Garden Journal. Bustling seems to be an understatement in the garden these days. Long gone are the cold spells that made me wonder how I could possibly get anything growing without the help of a green house. Spring is here and it seems that may be brief with hot humid 90 degree weather starting to be more common with each passing day. The veggies are loving it and I almost have so much going on it may difficult to keep track of soon. Probably the one thing I am most excit...

David's Garden Place: Melon Patch Update

http://www.planesandplants.blogspot.com/2011/04/melon-patch-update.html

Thursday, April 28, 2011. Warm weather and a few April showers have turned the garden into a blooming melon and cotton patch. Our sugar baby watermelon vines are bursting with blooms and even a few nicely growing melons. The new sweet potato bare roots arrived a few days early and are taking root in the mounded rows that were waiting for them and the red foliated cotton plant is rising above the melon patch. We closed out our winter growing cabbage with the harvest of 2 nicely red heads.

David's Garden Place: Growing Red

http://www.planesandplants.blogspot.com/2011/05/growing-red.html

Tuesday, May 10, 2011. It occurred to me the other day that just about everything I've planted in the garden this year has been some variety of a red something or other. Not sure how that happened and I certainly did not plan it that way. Red cabbage, red foliated cotton, red onion, cherry tomato, sweet potatoes and watermelon are all in the garden and all, with the exception of the sweet taters, are either growing red or will produce a red fruit. David's Garden Place: The Tendril and The Shoe, That's My Cue....

http://www.planesandplants.blogspot.com/2011/05/tendril-and-shoe-thats-my-cue.html

Friday, May 20, 2011. The Tendril and The Shoe, That's My Cue. Last year I decided that watermelon would be my new garden item for this spring. I selected a small bush variety called the sugar baby, perfect for my relatively small garden space. By growing the sugar baby there would still be room for my other garden goodies like sweet potatoes and cotton. Youtube to the rescue! Its all about the tendril, the little feeler closest to the melon, and the shoe, a tiny leaf next to the melon stem that resemble...

Holly's Blog (Original, huh? Friday, June 5, 2009. Well, a lot has happened since my last update. Sorry for the lapse. We have TILE now! Not quite finished, but it's looking good! There probably won't be much change for the next week since our contractor is leaving on vacation tomorrow. I can't wait until I can share pictures of the finished rooms! I love it. Welcome to my world: April 2009

http://kctaylor71.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Welcome to my world. Friday, April 3, 2009. The weather has been really nice for the past few weeks now. Several times I have considered taking the kids to the pool because it was definitely that hot out. However, our pool is not heated so I was a little hesitant but yesterday I decided to brave it and take a chance. You know what? It wasn't that bad. Yes the water was a little chilly but it was bearable and you got used to it pretty quick. I'm so excited! Links to this post. Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

Holly's Blog (Original, huh?): Easter 2009

http://mom2erma.blogspot.com/2009/04/easter-2009.html

Holly's Blog (Original, huh? Monday, April 13, 2009. Our Easter was pretty good with the exception of Maggie waking up at 6am with vertigo. For the first few hours of her day every time she moved she would throw-up. After taking a nap, and throwing up one more time it just went away. The rest of her day she was fine, and eating just like a kid should on Easter! Everything was delicious, but preparing it all sure made a BIG mess in my kitchen that I spent hours cleaning on Saturday! I'm broke of dollars!
