Friday, January 06, 2006. I just yesterday received my brand new iPod Nano. I can tell this will change my life - listening to music instead of WNYC on my headphones at work, it's a different experience. Music makes me emotional that's why I like to avoid it for the most part. It brings out all kinds of yearnings and sadness and even anger and defiance and also ego. Weird, I know. I'm late to the game but still, everyone is cooing over how cute my new nano is. Posted by Gertrude at 1:13 PM.

Saturday, December 31, 2005. It's New Year's Eve and I have yet to buy the prosecco I promised for the party I'm going to. Enjoy your leap into 2006. Posted by Gertrude at 4:57 PM. Saturday, December 10, 2005. I think people are way too sensitive to language. What is so incredibly terrible, horrifying, traumatizing about using f words? Naturally, he immediately got defensive and threw back at me something like "and what of it? And "what's it to you? Posted by Gertrude at 6:29 PM. Sunday, December 04, 2005.

Wednesday, November 23, 2005. On the subway recently I spied a public service advertisement from the New York State government that says, "Love your child. Don't leave her alone in the bathtub." The ad showed a photo of a little girl, two or three years old, standing inside. A bathtub, wearing a cute red top with thin straps. What's wrong with this picture? Children in bathtubs tend to be naked. There was a third thing I wanted to rant about. Oh yeah - in yesterday's Times. Specifically in the ad industr...

Thursday, April 27, 2006. Yesterday I got the dysfunctional email message that I get from the cop about twice a year. Hi Hope all is well with you. Silly yes? I know that's a ridiculous idea, but the magic of the whole digital world is I can hit send and just forget about it. Like it never happened. O.K. Here goes. Hitting send now and forgetting. Posted by Gertrude at 10:08 AM. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Is being considered for the death penalty. Nothing! Well, it's not so much how many people have to die...

Monday, October 31, 2005. Somebody left a little pumpkin-headed soap bubbles blower on my desk. It must have been Amy. It blows good bubbles! I couldn't believe the words were leaving her mouth. I wanted to catch them, go back in time. How dare she? Off to a meeting. Posted by Gertrude at 5:17 PM. Monday, October 24, 2005. I finished the Meinhof biography. Very sad. Sad sad sad. Posted by Gertrude at 3:20 PM. Wednesday, October 19, 2005. Still digesting and mulling. Posted by Gertrude at 2:19 PM. Natural...

Sunday, February 19, 2006. I have a bad taste in my mouth. Last night B and I and a couple that B is friends with went to Artisanal. For dinner after seeing Crash. At the Quad Cinema. How didactic can a movie get, by the way? It's not like I don't like spending money. I spend too much money on clothes, I'm sure. I have far too many. I like spending money on friends who are struggling - financially or emotionally. I spent a hundred dollars sending flowers. Posted by Gertrude at 5:28 PM. Him: "And nothing ...
