An Unfortunately Collected Poem by Ted Hughes →. December 23, 2011. Fela oversees rehearsal (Photo by Janet Griffith). 1 I have been listening to Fela Kuti. His pidgin, his music. What little I know about him, I read on Wikipedia–which is to say: I know very little about Fela Kuti. I know very little about Africa. Less about Nigeria. 2 Photos and videos suggest that Fela did not care for pants–at the same time, he seemed to prefer pageantry. Fela was a rock star, a big voice and a bigger show. 6 Fela was...

An Unfortunately Collected Poem by Ted Hughes. February 29, 2012. A few weeks ago I finished my first reading of Jules Renard’s. Douglas Parmée, trans. New York: New York Review of Books, 2011. I read a few short chapters every night before bed. Now I am reading. The two works really do not bear comparison–except that that I am reading them in succession. Some of Renard’s sketches in this book are short enough to pass as haiku:. In the end, she’s bound to spoil her waistline. At first gently, one by one,...

Call Me Jules →. An Unfortunately Collected Poem by Ted Hughes. January 31, 2012. Mia Brownell, Still Life with Chicken Villin Headpiece (2006). I can think of at least a handful of poems by each of these poets that I want to remember, but I quickly lose interest in the poems that turn to clichéd stereotypes and strident propaganda. And so, thus far, I have failed to answer this question while conceding to the more immediate and subjective standards of 1) do I like it? And 2) do I want to read it? Like a...

A Very Cancer Christmas? | proudliving

A sharing community for inspired living. A Very Cancer Christmas? So I have this lump. It’s pea-sized and it’s in my left breast, my good breast, my remaining breast. I found it last weekend while performing my weekly self-exam, which I adopted as my new breast-checking schedule, regardless of what any doctor might advise. Every week when I feel myself up, I expect to find something. Call it hypochondria or call it morbid, but it’s my reality. But now there’s this lump. There were a couple of others.

A sharing community for inspired living. Another year free and clear. Or is it clear to dream, free to shine? For shine we must if the world is to heal,. People to gain trust,. A better understanding of a love. That welcomes all lovers and friends. Or is it friends and lovers? No matter: those who share a soul, an embrace, a life. It is such a surprise. As a mother I birthed it,. As a victor I fought for it,. As a mortal I embrace it. With rose-colored glasses and fear put on hold,. 8220;Who will you be?

Lazy Freshman | proudliving

A sharing community for inspired living. My son is a freshman in high school. He was always a straight A student but now he’s getting mostly B’s and even some C’s. He’s also so lazy that I can’t even get him to take out the trash without yelling at him ten times first. It just seems like he doesn’t care anymore and I’m over it. How can I get him to be more motivated? I wish you the best as you and your son come to understand each other better. Please keep in touch! View all posts by proudliving ». You ar...
