Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: Orientate this
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2010/07/orientate-this.html
Monday, July 26, 2010. I just got an email from my soon-to-be-employer, about an upcoming new faculty orientation. This is apparently an all-day event, beginning at 8:45 in the morning (groan), and culminating with an afternoon reception at 4:30pm that will last lord only knows how long. The morning session, will have a panel where, the email informs me:. Following lunch, there will be a brief presentation on teaching and learning resources, a pictorial history of [this university].". Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: May 2008
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 29, 2008. Well, I've finished my talk. I didn't start writing it until yesterday, so I was a little worried, but despite a few typos here and there, it went over fairly well. Now the rest of my time here will be spent doing normal work, talking with people and enjoying Germany. Of course, I would be the first to admit that I in fact do not wish to revert to those times, but nonetheless. By Topher at 11:25 AM. Tuesday, May 27, 2008. By Topher at 4:58 AM. Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: September 2008
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Question to the code gods. What am I doing wrong? Note: I am doing something more complicated that printing out the first letter of the alphabet, I just want to point that out. By Topher at 2:38 PM. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Well, and prepare for my trip to Trento. By Topher at 4:12 PM. Friday, September 19, 2008. By the end of the article, I had come to realize the sad, simple truth about life in academia: this, virtually without exception, describes everyone I know.

Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: Alright, you win, SYTYCD
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2010/08/alright-you-win-sytycd.html
Friday, August 13, 2010. Alright, you win, SYTYCD. I have to say, we were skeptical about last night's finale for So You Think You Can Dance. They kept hyping up some "big special guest," and the entire time we were ready with the fast forward button, to skip the stupid guest that was going to show up. But then, it happened, and we saw this:. By Topher at 9:54 AM. OMG I so love Ellen! That was great. Im also very sad that I cant call you at work anymore or have lunch! August 13, 2010 at 10:15 AM.

Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: To miss or not to miss
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2010/08/to-miss-or-not-to-miss.html
Wednesday, August 4, 2010. To miss or not to miss. There are so many things I will miss here in the 'burg, and quite a few things I will not. Of course there are a bunch of friends and coworkers I will miss (and a couple of coworkers I won't), but as for things uniquely 'burg-ish:. Things I will miss:. Going into stores that are huge and never ever ever crowded (grocery stores, Target, etc). Air conditioning by default everywhere you go. Seeing 18th-century "folks" doing 21st century things.

Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: November 2008
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 21, 2008. On my way home. I'm at the Seoul Incheon airport right now, and I have about an hour until my flight to Tokyo boards (then I have a really long layover in Tokyo before heading out to New York). There's free wireless so I will amuse myself with this briefly. New game, to go with "Gay or European? And "School or Prison? In New York): "Prison or American Embassy? By Topher at 8:56 PM. Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: October 2008
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 30, 2008. I often complain about things here, whether it be annoying people in my life, or some sort of political upset in my head. So today, given the brisk yet sunny day, I will list off all of the great things going on right now. 2) This is a couple of days old, but still it gets to me: Daughter of slave votes for Obama. This is a 109 year-old woman whose father was a slave. 3) Corbett arrives in the 'burg tonight! 4) I am working from home today, to the beautiful sounds of Etta James.

This afternoon is passing by slowly, because. 1) I'm cold and wet from walking in the rain. 2) There's a seminar I have to go to in 12 minutes. 3) I'm trying to get some fits to work and they aren't. 4) It's dismal outside. Adventures in the Colonial 'burg: We won't be homeless
http://adventuresintheburg.blogspot.com/2010/07/we-wont-be-homeless.html
Sunday, July 18, 2010. We won't be homeless. After a grueling week of traveling to both western New York and New York City, we found places to move into when we leave the 'burg. Corbett will be living in a 19th-century mansion that has been converted into apartments. The place is ridiculously gorgeous, and has a brand new kitchen. It's sort of the kind of place that I'm not sure that I belong, but alas, it's all his, and I'll get to spend plenty of time in his mansion. By Topher at 9:58 AM.
