Plot 108

A blog mostly about my allotment. Tuesday, 2 April 2013. The one with all the spuds. Firstly, the weather this year is appalling. This time last year I was nursing sunburn after an unseasonably 20 degrees at the end of March. This year I am trying to avoid frostbite in my extremities. SORT IT OUT weather gods! OH (who officially owns the new plot) I think is just starting to realise the enormity of the task *he (*I) have taken on! Anyway, here's some photos while I ponder the best course of action. There...

Plot 108: Shed ramblings

http://www.plot108.blogspot.com/2013/03/shed-ramblings.html

A blog mostly about my allotment. Sunday, 3 March 2013. As I'm sure many other plot holders will find, the site reps can be, to put it politely, challenging to deal with at times. No exceptions here. Our recently acquired plot came with the normal detritus from previous tenants but also a shed, in fairly desperate need of some TLC. Anyway, after all the ranglings it was a very productive day. The kids painted the compost bins and then we set about marking out the new plot and digging commenced.

Plot 108: 2012-05-13

http://www.plot108.blogspot.com/2012_05_13_archive.html

A blog mostly about my allotment. Monday, 14 May 2012. Wild food foraging course. On Saturday went on a wild food foraging course with the Peterborough in Transition group. We met at the Olive Branch community garden and the first part of the morning was walking around the site and finding edibles that would normally be overlooked. There were lots around the site. Chickweed, dandelion, nettle, hawthorn, crab apple, bramble, elder, rowan to name but a few. There wasn't that much to find in the town park e...

Plot 108: 2012-03-04

http://www.plot108.blogspot.com/2012_03_04_archive.html

A blog mostly about my allotment. Tuesday, 6 March 2012. Really dull post today as really there's not much to report, and not much to see from the photo. But today I set either 5 or 6 rows of red onions and I want to say 8, but I may have miscounted, rows of white onions. Just for a bit of variation, and to see if it makes any difference have fleeced a few rows of both red and white. All of it is netted to stop the birds pulling out the sets before they've had chance to root. That's about it I'm afraid!

http://www.plot108.blogspot.com/2012_02_26_archive.html

A blog mostly about my allotment. Friday, 2 March 2012. This week on the plot - 27/2-2/3/12. Ultra busy week on the plot brought about by a week of dry(ish) weather. Motivated by needing to feel that everything was under control so that there is space for plants to go in when they're ready. So this week on the plot:. Space made ready for first early potatoes. Compost bin turned into the one emptied last week. Then refilled with the contents that were in here. Monday, 27 February 2012. The trick I've foun...

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things: Week 22 hexagon a day project

http://mypatchworkblanket.blogspot.com/2014/06/week-22-hexagon-day-project.html

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Saturday, 7 June 2014. Week 22 hexagon a day project. It's been 11 weeks since I posted and update on this project. There are reasons. My own health hasn't been the greatest, and unfortunately (but not unexpectedly) my grandmother passed away 2 weeks ago. I shall add some of the other projects I have been working on in another post soon, but for now I shall leave you with where the hex a day is up to. Thanks for reading x. My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things: December 2013

http://mypatchworkblanket.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Tuesday, 31 December 2013. The 2014 hexagon a day challenge - the prep. After much deliberation I have decided upon using this. For the block. There are so many others that I could have chosen and it has been really difficult narrowing it down, but I wanted something that was going to be relatively straight forward and the interest would come from using colour. My aims for the challenge. Saving for some time. What I hope to achieve. World I live in. I set my...

http://mypatchworkblanket.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Monday, 20 February 2012. I wanted a quick project to fill a couple of hours yesterday evening so started making #2 of these. Http:/ www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mini-key-ring-purses. They're really cute. The problem with self striping yarn is that you can make the same colour for both front and back, so at the moment I have about 4 almost made. Havent taken any pics yet and need to source keyring findings. Both will be remedied very shortly. The pattern...

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Wednesday, 15 October 2014. Only 10 weeks to go! The meds have certainly helped to stabilise I am still rapid cycling it is for the most part to a lesser degree than before. It is becoming more manageable, both for myself as I learn more about what triggers certain things, and also for my family as they learn also about how this illness affects me and effects them. My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things: April 2013

http://mypatchworkblanket.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Wednesday, 10 April 2013. The bit I was dreading most about making socks was the heel. And not so much the actual doing of it, but understanding the pattern. However, last night, with a certain amount of trepidation I turned both heels. Extremely pleased that there are still no 'ladders'. So left to do now is the foot of the sock and then to learn kitchener stitch to finish the toes. I'm hoping it wont be too difficult. Tuesday, 2 April 2013. I decided to ma...

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Thursday, 28 August 2014. One a day progress and other yarn related news. I've been terrible about updating my blog with how this project is going. It is still going, but it's turned more into a weekly event due to an extraodinarily busy summer holidays. I'm currently a week behind having been away at Small World festival in Kent, but I plan to make up those missing hexagons later today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

My Patchwork Blanket and other knitted things. Monday, 23 January 2012. Baby Blanket for not-quite-cooked niece. My sister is due a baby girl on Feb 1st. On January 9th I decided that I should probably get the needles clicking and make something for her. The blanket that I started for my nephew still lays unfinished (he's nearly 3! So now : 23/1/2012 I am half completed. Some of the photos arent great quality as I had to knock the flash off to get the texture to show. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Track the progress of plot 103, Annamoe allotments, County Wicklow. Tired of suffering from garden envy, living in apartments in Dublin, Sharon and Jemma decided to give the 2 fingers to shop-bought vegetables and try and grow their own. Monday, 1 February 2010. The story of our allotment. Sunday, August 17, 2008. Flowers, Peas and Tomatoes! We try growing different things each year; sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't. This year we have had some limited success with some wild flowers, peas, and tomatoes, for the first time. Whilst the flowers that have emerged looked nice, there was plenty of room in the flowerbed for more to emerge:. Nonetheless, there is nothing quite like growing something you can eat there and then:. Sunday, July 13, 2008. Mostly ...
