The year creeps in with cold and snow! | The story of our allotment

https://plot59and60.wordpress.com/2010/03/03/the-year-creeps-in-with-cold-and-snow

The story of our allotment. Where we log the ups and downs of starting an allotment. March 3, 2010. The year creeps in with cold and snow! Well so far the year has been very wet and quite a bit snowy and the amount of work possible on the plot is therefore a bit limited still. That said we are getting there. Of my ten point list for the winter so far we have done or are doing most of them. 1) Clear out, clean and sort greenhouse. Finish the re-jig of the staging so there is a shelf underneath. 9 and 10 W...

The year moved rapidly to an end | The story of our allotment

The story of our allotment. Where we log the ups and downs of starting an allotment. November 18, 2009. The year moved rapidly to an end. Well the year is pretty much over and it’s time to be looking toward next year. We have had a mixed year but i think we are moving in the right direction. Next year we need to keep on top of the plot more. far less docks and keep things generally tidier but there should be a significnat amount less un-used space if we manage to do what we plan over winter. Hi Esther fo...

We have an allotment open day next weekend, Sataday of the August bank holiday. As last time we areputting out tent up in case of british weather. The Mayan ones, the twiglight was great, the splot was not so nice!

Slugs | The story of our allotment

https://plot59and60.wordpress.com/2009/08/10/slugs

The story of our allotment. Where we log the ups and downs of starting an allotment. August 10, 2009. Anyway back to the allotment and the current bain of my life slugs! All the damp weather has been perfect for them so much so not only are they eating everything outside they are even in the greenhouse and ate my first abergine and some of the ripening tomatoes which is really frustrating. shouldn’t the heat dry them out too much? Potatoes mostly need digging as many of them are looking ill, not sure if ...

We have moved the two apple tree from the ‘lawn’ and put them with the others and they are def happier. Strang...The strawberr...

The Lilac Kitchen: Apple cake

http://lilackitchen.blogspot.com/2010/12/apple-cake.html

New Kitchen, time to start experimenting again. Gluten free, mostly organic and british. Plus now the Allotment too! Tuesday, 21 December 2010. We have a new favourite for a quick, easy and tasty tea time treat. This is based on a recipe from the Be-Ro Baking book. Which is a legendary British baking book in its 40th edition, however theirs is a different fruit and used butterscotch not syrup plus obviously not gluten free. Apple puree or apple sauce, a small bowl or jar full. This is optional but he...

The Lilac Kitchen: Weekly Menu 9th June to 13th June

http://lilackitchen.blogspot.com/2008/06/weekly-menu-9th-june-to-13th-june.html

New Kitchen, time to start experimenting again. Gluten free, mostly organic and british. Plus now the Allotment too! Monday, 9 June 2008. Weekly Menu 9th June to 13th June. This weeks ingredient is eggs another real staple here both for savoury dishes and in baking particularly if I make that Opera Cake again! One of our staple quick lunches is poached eggs on toast or muffins if we have them, in fact I may well be tempted to do Eggs Benedict. For breakfast this coming weekend as we haven't had it in ages.

New Kitchen, time to start experimenting again. Gluten free, mostly organic and british. Plus now the Allotment too! Friday, 23 November 2007. Spinach, ricotta and pumpkin Lasagna. Inspired by posts on Ginger Lemon Girl. And Book of Yum. I decided to do a lasagna. I had several packets of gluten free pasta sheets and love spinach and ricotta lasagna so adding pumpkin sounded a idea worth a try. 1 packet of gluten free lasagna sheets (boiled for 2 mins to make sure they were nice and soft.). Jumping from one idea to the next. Where I share the random way my crafting ideas develop. Monday, November 28, 2011. A new outfit for a wonderful wedding. A week ago we were just getting back from one of the most wonderful weddings I've been to. Then I got tonsillitus so I'm only just getting round to blogging about it now. When I tell you we stayed here. After considering several patterns I went for these two. Vintage Vogue 2859 from the thirties. I did a mock up of the jacket in a leaf design cotton I...

The recently mulched leeks need weeding. already! I continued with the digging this afternoon. Saturday, October 27, 2012. I decided to cover the newly dug area against the coming bad weather. I prepared the bed for the peas I want to sow in a couple of weeks. One more down, one to go. the gooseberry roots take some digging to get out! Down in the groove.

Home brewing antics can now be found at my other blog;. Http:/ gettinggrist.blogspot.com. Friday, 31 January 2014. It's time to turn up the heat. As chilli peppers have a long growing time before fruiting and ripening, they need to be started early. Earlier in the month I brought in some seed compost from the shed - no seed is going to like cold January compost. I propped it up against a radiator in the spare room for a week or so (on an old piece of lino to save any hysterics from the wife). I mentioned...
