Mike Burns: February 2005
http://mike-burns.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2005. Kevin Devine, Invert, and Rachel's. Just got back from the Rachel's show. Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band. Were I in charge of this band, I'd fire the vocalist, have the backup vocalist sing, and let the drummer, bassist, and pianist play. It takes a lot to play on stage. It takes more to play bad music on stage. I applaud this band for that. Fucking good. See them. And buy their shit. I'd like to thank Rodan. For being so fucking hot. See this band and buy their shit. Green ...

Keep Working, Worker Bee!: 2005.11

Keep Working, Worker Bee! What's wrong with computer science? I told them about PLaneT. I told them about the Freshman Dating Study (which incidentally just had some of its results published in a journal paper. Which sounds to me like a recipe for propagating suboptimal programming techniques and depending on old and bad technologies. Posted by Jacob Matthews at 09:42. Bruce Tate's Technologies to Watch. Keep Working, Worker Bee! Ruby on Rails, macros, and code generation. Is to run a battery of scripts that generate several ruby files in several different directories, all of which are generated pretty much systematically but have some minor variation based on the particulars of your application. In essence, if I understand the argument correctly the RoR scripts aren't there to take away the drudgery of writing repetitive code so much as to be executable documentation on proper Rails use. That sounds...

Keep Working, Worker Bee!: 2005.09

Keep Working, Worker Bee! Hi Sorry on the lack of updates — I've got net connection, but it turns out I've been way too busy to write proper accounts of the talks so far. I have been keeping notes, though, so I'll catch you all up as soon as I can. Estonia itself is quite a strange place, Old Town is a very-old-looking area and it's difficult to tell what's real and what's a recreation. Parts of it are very pretty, though, so that's nice.
