Overo Information Blog: Creating a bootable microSD card
http://overoinfo.blogspot.com/2010/03/creating-bootable-microsd-card.html
Sunday, March 21, 2010. Creating a bootable microSD card. In my mind one of the nicer features of the Overo COM computer is it will boot directly from a properly prepared microSD card. The 'advantage' to having the Overo COM computer boot up from the microSD. The following information describes the steps for setting up a brand new 2GB microSD card. Since there are several different sizes of microSD cards I have included the instructions to setup the different sized cards. The majority of the diff...To pe...

Overo Information Blog: Trashed NAND storage rebuilding

Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Trashed NAND storage rebuilding. These modules take away a huge part of the basic engineering, letting you focus on the value-added work. One commonality among all the Gumstix COM modules is the amount and type of Ram and NAND Flash Rom on board. Since this is a common ‘trait’ of the COM board’s restoration of the NAND Flash Rom content is the same across the Overo line of COM computer modules. No lie - had that exact thing happen to me! Now the system is no longer responsive!

Overo Information Blog: June 2009

Thursday, June 25, 2009. In working with the Overo COM line I have come to a revelation. well. more of an observation really. My revelation is this:. There are so many more possibilities as to what can be done using the Overo COM line of computers than can be accomplished by one person! OK - So now you have some idea of the quandray I face - so many possibilities, so little time! 1 Intellegent firewall/router/access point. There is no reason the machine could not handle this sort of application - it is b...

Overo Information Blog: Space to play in

Sunday, March 14, 2010. Space to play in. As a distraction, hopefully I can now do some more postings and work with the Gumstix that will be of interest to others. I may even be able to work the Gumstix into a security roll - who knows. If you are planning to build a Gumstix machine and need more than embedded basic functionality you will need more storage space. A couple of ways to get more space is. Some microSD cards that work well with the Overo COM computers:. Posted by Gary N McKinney. I am an Info...

Overo Information Blog: July 2009
http://overoinfo.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 4, 2009. First - Sorry for the lack of posts here. I was down in the hospital with acute appendicitis (had to remove the appendix and a small part of the large intestine where it attached due to extreme infection! Needless to say that was not fun! Now - One of the items I am looking to use with the gumstix computer is a LCD display with touchscreen capability. Gumstix sells a Samsung 4.3 inch (diagonal) LCD display ( LTE430WQ-FOC. Using the Touch Screen Panel (Film to Film-Glass type).

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. One of the things I want to do with this tiny computer system is build a PWCS (Personal Wearable Computer System) [I just made that up - like it? In order to do this I needed "something" to mount the actual computer system in and keep it's size down to a minimum. Currently there is no case for the Overo Earth computer as it's original design is for embedded applications, and I don't think they had "embedding within clothing" in mind when it was designed (grin). OK - I guess the t...

Overo Information Blog: April 2009
http://overoinfo.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 4, 2009. New Overo Computer On Module! Gumstix has come out with the Overo Fire COM - Gumstix now is calling them "Computer on Module" to differentiate what is the motherboard and what is the daughterboard - must have been some confusion between the computer board and expansion boards. The only thing missing is a video out source on-board to make this a completely self-contained computer system! The Overo Fire COM is the same physical size and electrical connection specifications as the o...
