In 2008 I walked from Le-Puy-en-Velay to Santiago. In 2012 I walked the Cluny route in France. In 2015 I am planning a walk near Assisi for ten days. View my complete profile. Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: Esplanade- early winter
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2015/06/esplanade-early-winter.html
Sunday, June 07, 2015. I really do love the Esplanade in Palmy, especially for a quiet, calm, weekend walk- and the glory of the park is that it holds beautiful surprises, whatever the season. Today the sun 'hid' most of the time I was there, but autumn colours were still poking through, giving joy in early winter. Here are a selection of photos from this morning. There were still rose blooms in the Rose Garden, though on their 'last legs', and no doubt due for the pruning shears soon. I can be a bit of ...

Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: August 2014
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2014. Mt Vic on a glorious day. Who could've guessed what a glorious day Sunday would be. First off I returned to the harbour for the market, and besides some healthy veges, I bought a banana cake to take round to my sister's place. (And very yum it was! My man by Te Papa was looking over a dead calm harbour. Exquisite. And hopefully the BlueBridge passengers were pleasantly surprised by the calm all the way to Picton. And you could see planes landing and leaving the airport. Once I he...

Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: October 2014
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 12, 2014. In 25 weeks time, I will be heading onto the walking trails near Assisi for ten days, and the time has come to start upping my amount of physical exercise. The weather this weekend has been very kind for such endeavours. My friend Strava kindly told me I had walked 5.3km. (I have fallen in love with Strava.). Today was another glorious day, and calm, so I decided a bike ride along the Manawatu River track would be in order. Strava told me this was 16km. Week 1 involved catching ...

Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: August 2015
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 02, 2015. Ooops, have only just realised I never posted here at all during my trip to Christchurch in the July school holidays. Making up for lost time then, here is a link to my album of photos on Flickr. And here are two panoramic views from a friend's new house in Redcliffs, looking over the Avon-Heathcoate Estuary, and a view just before sunrise. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: December 2014
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 22, 2014. Sitting downtown under the shade of a tree- relaxing into holiday mode. Saturday, December 06, 2014. Cuba St Palmerston North in the afternoon sunshine. Tuesday, December 02, 2014. This is the circuit I followed on Saturday- yes, yet another windy day- using a combo of the PN city walkways. It made for a 10km walk with a few hilly bits to climb. On a dull day these trees look so forbidding in winter, but with spring leaves and a wet path, they look almost enchanting. This old d...

Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: Exploring in Wellington Pt2
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2015/02/exploring-in-wellington-pt2.html
Sunday, February 22, 2015. Exploring in Wellington Pt2. Back from a drive around some bays, I took a wander down Lyall Bay again, plus a little further south along the road, and just as the sun was losing its hold on the bay, I walked back. I won't elaborate- but here are some Lyall Bay photos. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Palmerston North, New Zealand. View my complete profile. Il faut aller doucement. pohanginapete: Ghost thoughts
http://pohanginapete.blogspot.com/2015/08/ghost-thoughts.html
Pete lives in the Pohangina Valley, Aotearoa/New Zealand and writes about travelling and people, mountains and other wild places, photography, Aotearoa-NZ, natural history, strangeness and possibility, wondering, life in general and a swag of other stuff. ('Paw-HUNG-in-uh' is a close enough pronunciation.). But those rides tend to be irregular, and less common in winter. Now my preferred exercise is a walk up the No. 1 Line track, with the bike rides interspersed so I’m not binge-exercising. When I bike ...

Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: On the trails of St Francis
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2015/05/on-trails-of-st-francis.html
Saturday, May 02, 2015. On the trails of St Francis. I have been 'away' briefly, walking for ten days along trails of St Francis, in Umbria, Italy and blogged about it over here. It was a magnificent walk, with lots of spectacular views (largely because of the many hill climbs and descents involved! I have also put up a Flickr album of photos from my time away here: Umbria 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Palmerston North, New Zealand. View my complete profile. Il faut aller doucement.

Kiwi Nomad's Wanderings: March 2015
http://kiwinomad06.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. I had a short afternoon wander in the Esplanade today- my last before I leave on Thursday for Rome and Assisi. Here is a fuschia in the autumn light. For anyone interested in that trip, I will be blogging if I find wifi at Festina Lente. Hurry Slowly- always my motto when walking! It will be a little strange to jump from home to have a brief interlude in early spring. Sunday, March 15, 2015. Saturday, March 14, 2015. The clouds look ominous above the terrace out Massey way. It was...
