Photographer’s Guide to Point Reyes. Inverness is a cute town on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, on the shore of Tomales Bay. It has a few stores and restaurants, lots of piers, and the classic remains of the. I don’t know what the story behind this boathouse is, but the lettering on the Launch for Hire sign is great! It is just north of the town of Inverness, so you’ll drive through it on your way to the rest of Point Reyes.

Photographer’s Guide to Point Reyes. Mt Wittenberg is one of my favorite spots in the park. I’m a sucker for views, and Wittenberg delivers. The open meadows at the saddle overlook Drake’s Bay to the west, and Pacifica is visible to the south. Don’t bother going up to the actual peak: it is a disappointing warren of small clearings and brush. Instead, turn south at the saddle and follow a short trail through some scattered trees. Photographer’s Guide to Point Reyes. Sculpted Beach is a great place to catch the last few minutes of light before sunset. The red cliffs can pick up a really nice warm hue from the late afternoon light. The light can be especially dramatic after a storm as the sun drops below the clouds just before it sets. There are also some attractive rock outcroppings you can get in the foreground of your photos if you position yourself properly. Hiker on Sculpted Beach.

Photographer’s Guide to Point Reyes. Bear Valley is a small valley at the very end of Tomales Bay. It’s home to the town of Olema and the Bear Valley Visitor Center and you’ll drive through it on your way to the rest of the park. On hazy afternoons, the valley can be quite pretty when seen looking west from highway 1. Conversely, the hills around the visitor center and Limantour road can catch some dramatic lighting if heavy fog banks are rolling in during the late afternoon.

The trail follows a small creek through the woods until it up to Divide Meadow. From there, it descends along Coast Creek all the way to the beach and Arch Rock.
