Then the clouds will open for me.: So sad to see you fade from me
http://cloudswillopenforme.blogspot.com/2010/07/so-sad-to-see-you-fade-from-me.html
Then the clouds will open for me. Saturday, July 3, 2010. So sad to see you fade from me. Placebo today are (in my books) an amazing and unique band, who are going from strength to strength. Although I look back on their earlier days with a certain nostalgia and enthusiasm, I can appreciate their every album and evolution and love the contribution of Steve Hewitt as much as the new contribution of Californian drummer Steve Forrest (freaky Steve coincidence there). Then the clouds will open for me.: June 2010
http://cloudswillopenforme.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Then the clouds will open for me. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. I'm nearing the end of four years of university, and I can't help but feel as if I'm well, old. It's a little scary, how my degree has nearly passed before my eyes, in one instance I'm glad, in another, I'm a little scared. Look what you're missing out on! Is it really necessary? What if I am really happy on my own? Or what then if I am really unhappy being alone, being 'unattached'? Of course assuming that I'm heterosexual. Do I really care?

Professional losers. Check it. Music is my radar. Gig review: Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane, State Theatre, 16/1/12. An update of sorts. March 1, 2013. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything new here (over a year if I’m to take the date on that gig review below as an indicator). In between breaking my knee in February 2012 and moving to Berlin for a year, Professional Losers fell to the wayside. Made only slightly more brilliant by the fact that I chronicled my time in Berlin for them). Record review: A...

Thursday, October 29, 2009. What do you do with a. 8220;What do you do with a BA in English? Is now a straight and semi-productive member of society whose achievements at her job somehow eclipse the time I spend on Hype Machine and Facebook. I know, right? I didn’t adopt all of the below steps, but if I ever scale back my freelancing stuff and get desperate then I will likely be turning to suppress the impotent guilt that will likely arrive shortly thereafter. Heads down / thumbs up. Reviews, news, geekdom, and stuff. How to gracefully dissapear in a room, or why The National live blew me away! Big Day Out 2008 →. The Arcade Fire @ The Enmore Theatre. January 24, 2008. I have heard some negative comments about the crowd on Tuesday night, and in response all I want to do is ask what show were you attending? I know that I should probably talk more about why The Arcade Fire charmed the pants off everybody, but seeing as my review is coming two days late, (hey I w...

Alt Control Delete: October 2010

Monday, October 25, 2010. Rav had an interweb chat with My Disco's Ben Andrews about recording his band's latest album, Little Joy, with legendary record maker, Steve Albini; getting your improv on in the studio; and naming an album after a shitty LA bar. Did it take you boys a long time to record your new album, Little Joy? All of the instruments sound really meticulously recorded. For sure. What was recording with a producer Albini like? Yeah, the improvisation really comes through a lot on the record,...
