Weekend in Beirut | Polly Voo Franzay
https://pollyvoofranzay.wordpress.com/2010/08/16/weekend-in-beirut
Just another WordPress.com weblog. What I’ve Read and What I’m Reading. August 16, 2010. This past weekend, C. and I flew to Lebanon to explore the city of Beirut. Here’s a view of the bustling”Paris of the Middle East”: Beirut, from the rooftop of our hotel. We stayed at a fantastic boutique hotel called The Albergo. In one of the oldest neighborhoods in the Christian part of Beirut. The caves were massive! Luckily, some back up generators came on a few minutes later which allowed us to (barely! Note: U...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. What I’ve Read and What I’m Reading. July 5, 2010. Desert to Dubai: A Weekend of Contrasts. We couldn’t have spent this weekend in two more different places. On the first night, we drove out to the desert to stay at a resort called Qasr al Sarab. Then, on the next night, we drove into the bustling, skyscraper-studded city of Dubai. But, first: the relaxing Liwa desert…. We hiked up and over the dunes (and got LOTS of sand in our shoes) for over an hour. At times, it...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. What I’ve Read and What I’m Reading. September 13, 2010. Two days in Brittany: Saint Malo and Cancale. Last Wednesday night, C. and I flew to Paris for an all too quick four-day trip: two days to explore Brittany, and two days at a wedding. So with only two days to explore a whole region, we weren’t sure where to begin. Talk about last minute planning…by last Monday we hadn’t even reserved hotel rooms yet! To hundreds of people standing around outside our hotel. And nib...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. What I’ve Read and What I’m Reading. January 3, 2011. Well, it’s official … Polly’s pregnant! So, to celebrate, and to take our last vacation before the little one arrives, C. and I headed down to Key West after Christmas for a few days relaxing in the sun. On our first night in Key West we took the hotel shuttle into town and after walking on Duval Street for awhile (what a tourist trap! We detoured to a side street and had dinner at Blue Heaven. The next morning, the ...

California All the Way. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Day 2, er, 3: Salt Lake to Lincoln, Nebraska. We had forgotten it was Sunday, and not much is open in Salt Lake on Sunday. I didn't have the energy to do much anyway, and spent most of the day in bed. Scout enjoyed an extra day's reprieve from the dreaded carrier. Below is a picture of Scout chillaxing on the sofa in our hotel room. From the snowy mountains, I-80 winds into an area that looks kind of like the Old Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disney World.

California All the Way: December 2008
http://californiaalltheway.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
California All the Way. Friday, December 26, 2008. So this is Christmas? Here's a picture of our apartment community on Christmas Eve. Kind of looks like fall in New England, right? 160;It's been rainy in the Bay Area lately, which translates to winter weather, but for Stacey and me, it's hard to get in the holiday spirit when it looks like this outside. Stacey and I both have today off, so we are having a quiet day at home, trying to relax and get organized now that the Christmas craziness is over.

As I was leafing through the Christmas ads today, I came across the store GiFi’s toy section. You might remember my initial shock that kids in France have board games. Well, today I was also shocked to see they have play kitchens, too. A toy washing machine. A make-believe Deep Fryer. 8221; (Apologies for the dar...
