A Medieval Craftsman: Renaissance Fair '09
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2009/10/renaissance-fair-09.html
October 7, 2009. Good day to you all. I am sadly late in posting this update, and I have no excuse, so I shall simply post the pictures. This costume was a swift project, as I had decided only in July that I would be going to a renaissance fair this year. It is based off of some clothing found in the Manesse Codex, so I suppose it's Germanic, but the manuscript is so simply illustrated I may as well call it English. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Medieval Craftsman: June 2008
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
June 25, 2008. So, I bought an axe, and since it's sharp, and I plan to take it to a renaissance fair, I made a sheath for it. I have no progress pictures, but I have finished ones. Those are arbitrary front and back sides, which is why I tooled both sides. I just plan to have the 'front' facing out more often. June 24, 2008. Romano-Briton helm: part VII. This is the final post about the Romano-Briton helm. It should be on its way to the owner today. June 21, 2008. A note to my visitors. June 11, 2008.

A Medieval Craftsman: October 2008

October 18, 2008. I told you I'd have pics, and although I took some time in posting them, here they are:. And in case you were wondering, it was a very hot day, and too sunny. Still fun, though. October 8, 2008. Sword in the stone. I thought it fitting to post this, as it does have something to do with both the Middle Ages and crafts. I made this project in Jewelry/Metals class at Kent State University (quite a fun and useful class, despite my low grade). October 7, 2008. Splinted greaves: part IV.

A Medieval Craftsman: August 2008
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
August 30, 2008. Dutch shoes: part I. It's been over two weeks since I've last posted, which I can blame mostly on two things:. A) I'm lazy, and I haven't been working on more than one project at a time. B) School started, and I've been studying for the first time ever. Now that I'm back in 'the groove', I've started working on my latest project, which is a pair of shoes, based off of this. Example. It's a commission, and the person purchasing has a Dutch persona, thus the Dutch shoes. August 7, 2008.

A Medieval Craftsman: April 2013
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
April 19, 2013. The Resurrection of the Dormant Passion. Greetings one and all. I've found the time to craft again, so expect to see some pictures again soon. Lots has happened in the past three and a half years, but I've found my way back to handiwork. I am a graduate student, so I reserve the right to post infrequently. Here's hoping this isn't one of those "I'll post more" then nothing posts. I have some crafts started though. If you know what that is, you'll understand the direction I'm going.

A Medieval Craftsman: February 2009
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
February 16, 2009. Greetings and long time unseen! Recently I celebrated a birthday, and my grandfather sent me a clipping from a magazine with a picture of a Viking warrior. I admit only glancing at it, but when I picked it up a few days later, the warrior's necklace caught my eye. Today, I bought said drill bit, drilled the hole, did the final decoration, then cut the pendant from the antler and finished up the end. And here it is:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Medieval Craftsman: Splinted armour
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2009/07/splinted-armour.html
July 14, 2009. This project was a commission, and I wasn't planning on posting any pictures at all, but I do love the look of this one. Yeah, it looks smashing. xD. And as the recipient of this fine armor, I hope it prevents smashing too. July 15, 2009 at 10:40 AM. Yeah, it does. I had a ball smashing thick sticks to bits against my own set. A Medieval Craftsman: English Longbow: Part 1
http://medievalcraft.blogspot.com/2013/05/english-longbow-part-1.html
May 7, 2013. English Longbow: Part 1. I used red oak for the belly of the bow and white pine for the back. I laminated them together:. I surely could have used more clamps, but I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on this project (more on that later). I weighed it down in the middle with my hauberk (15 pounds) to give a little bit of reflex. Here it is glued up. You can see how there is a little bit of flex towards the pine side (the left). This is on 5/1:. After all the heavy bending, the bow did tak...
