Music | Pop Peelings

Remembering old music and movies – and doing a disservice to them both. Those seeking great music have probably come to the wrong blog. I started reviewing pop singles from the 1990s, but got bored with that pretty quickly. Making Sense of Hip-Hop. Analyses lyrics from the best rap albums out there. Remembering old music and movies – and doing a disservice to them both. STORY: The Man Who Thought He Was Cheryl Cole. By Slick Nick @Poppeelings. On the train to work, he displayed a hand tattoo etched by biro. He pretended to wave a flowing lock of chemically-enhanced hair in other commuter’s faces. He caught a glimpse of a photo of Cheryl Cole in a business man’s ruffled copy of that morning’s Metro, saying that wasn’t taken at me best angle like. Where’s the nearest dressing room pet? The Littlest Picture Show: Review: Fright Night 3D
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2011/08/fright-night-3d-review.html
Wednesday, 17 August 2011. Review: Fright Night 3D. Hollywood horror has more often than not, been a bitter pill to swallow. Rarely does it manage to embrace the terrifying with the credible, thus a rise in success in horror sub genres, like Wes Craven pastiche, Scream,. And more recently, the overt spoof franchise of Scary Movie. This review shan't compare this version. Peter Vincent, played by David Tennant. Fogell, aka, McLovin', brilliantly. The Littlest Picture Show: Review: Battleship
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2012/04/review-battleship.html
Sunday, 22 April 2012. Much like Michael Bay, Peter Berg bastardises the Hasbro name for both filmic and monetary purposes, albeit to a lesser extent with his latest big budgeted film, Battleship. It may be early on in the year for said blockbuster types, but at around $200m someone must have been extremely confident that this would appeal to the masses, or simply didn't care once it had been green-lit. So far, Battleship. Whereas the likes of Robocop. In fact does the same. Indeed, if this is. However, ...

The Littlest Picture Show: Review: Zero Dark Thirty
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2013/02/review-zero-dark-thirty.html
Saturday, 9 February 2013. Review: Zero Dark Thirty. Sometimes controversy whirls around a film either working to its advantage or detriment. Admittedly anything that generates such attention is largely media hyperbole, and Kathryn Bigelow's latest is perhaps the perfect example of this. Is a superbly directed, paced and structured thriller. What's refreshing is the complete lack of an 'America, fuck yeah! Another point previously touched upon is Bigelow's spot on direction, further adding to the bafflem...

The Littlest Picture Show: Review: Mama
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2013/02/review-mama.html
Monday, 25 February 2013. Modern horror is living in the shadows (no pun intended) of its predecessors. At the same time the excellent Carrie. Is released on Blu-ray, we've got samey, generic and hugely uninventive movies of the genre being churned out faster than you can ask someone what their favourite scary movie is ( Scream. Voicemail doesn't quite sit right), but as with the logic and tone of the film, quickly alters to become a jumper-wearing mother figure and covers up the (fake) tattoos she sports.

Saturday, 4 May 2013. Review: Iron Man Three. So 'phase two' begins of Marvel's global domination in the superhero market after their monstrously successful The Avengers. That scooped a whopping $1.5bn at the box office. Robert Downy Jr. picks up where that left off as he tries to shake off the dire attempt of Iron Man 2. With the aptly titled Iron Man Three. Is the best of the trilogy, and possibly the strongest Marvel film to grace the big screen to date. In terms of tone and subtext, the sillier, clun...

The Littlest Picture Show: Review: A Good Day to Die Hard
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2013/02/review-good-day-to-die-hard.html
Sunday, 24 February 2013. Review: A Good Day to Die Hard. After the woefully daft and utterly frivolous attempts of Live Free or Die Hard. That's Die Hard 4.0. To you and I), director John Moore explicitly promises something of quality. Something to reinvigorate the franchise, with a no-nonsense approach. He wholeheartedly lied. A Good Day to Sell Out: Bruce smiles all the way to the bank. No less) is anyone's guess. What isn't. Left to speculation is that A Good Day to Die Hard. The duration feels like ...

The Littlest Picture Show: January 2013
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, 13 January 2013. The aftermath of mass media panic halted Ruben Fleischer's third feature from a September 2012 release, after succumbing to moral obligation to remove a cinema shooting, and reschedule for an early 2013 one. In truth, the omission of this infamous scene isn't missed or seemingly required in the context of the film in its newer cut, but all this would be more significant if the film in question was actually worth the wait. The American director's previous film, 30 Minutes or Less.

The Littlest Picture Show: Review: Crazy, Stupid, Love
http://thelittlestpictureshow.blogspot.com/2011/09/review-crazy-stupid-love.html
Sunday, 25 September 2011. Review: Crazy, Stupid, Love. It's not unfair suggesting romantic comedies (or rom-coms, as the cool kids say) are ten-a-penny and is a sub-genre that forms the perfect date night fodder. The problem with the format is that for every successful effort, there are a dozen duds. And why? Well, more-often-than-not the rom-com is a genre so saturated with monetary motives, it can easily lose its integrity until a rare gem pops up. After discovering his wife Emily (Moore), is having a...

Telefon: 042 - 92 060. Och varmt välkomna tillbaka nästa sommar!
