The work of German painter Gerhard Richter has incorporated both figuration and abstraction, with subject matter ranging from politically charged figures such as the Baader-Meinhof group. To the pure color and form of a grid pattern. A significant portion of his career has involved modifying existing photographic images in some way, often blurring the subject matter.
