Things to do in Porthtowan. The Cornish capital, Truro, is just 10 miles from the holiday cottages at Towan Valley. Along its cobbled streets you will find a great mix of independent shops, high street retailers and a wealth of bars and restaurants. Truro has two markets, Lemon Street Market and Pannier Market which are open 6 days a week. There are also Farmers Markets every Wednesday and Saturday. This was done to save on building costs so that a further block of land didn’t have to be purchased.
