Portland Coffeehouse Journal: August 2008
http://portlandcoffeehousejournal.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
A Journey Through the Coffeehouses of Portland, OR. Monday, August 4, 2008. There I am, a coffeehouse miner in the dark cave of Portland, toiling away to find the hidden gems of coffeehouses long forgotten. And after weeks and weeks of running around the same ol. Tunnels, lo' and behold there is a coffeehouse that has apparently been around since 2004, right there in plain sight on NW 21st. It's Coffeetime. I don't know how I managed to overlook this one, but here it is. Posted by Sonia Ruiz. We Agree: A...

A Journey Through the Coffeehouses of Portland, OR. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. This past summer, while biking down Vancouver Ave. to work, I knew that Ristretto. Would be opening its second location on Williams any day. It was a bright morning and all of a sudden I found myself being pulled east toward Williams to see if Ristretto. Was open yet and what do you know? Do I have a coffee sixth sense or what? Roasters is my most favorite coffeehouse in Portland. Offerings a lot more now. Questions, comment...

Jennifair: More attempts at making things...
http://jennifairelam.blogspot.com/2009/03/more-attempts-at-making-things.html
Monday, March 23, 2009. More attempts at making things. Today I attempted to make mozzarella, yogurt cheese, and whole wheat bread. The mozzarella did not work out, I think because I was using the wrong kind of milk. I'm going to try and buy raw milk from a farm upstate, they'll deliver it to my door apparently. I was on the right track. I followed every step correctly. But at least my first loaf of bread turned out! Lance approves. And he's putting my homemade butter on it! Portland Coffee House Journal.

Monday, January 26, 2009. It was fucking freezing yesterday and I decided to stay in and make cupcakes. I decorated them all by myself - I was very anal about it, as you can tell. But I really like pretty cup cakes, they make me happy. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Portland Coffee House Journal. Living the simple life in NYC. View my complete profile.

Monday, August 25, 2008. I made my first ever apple pie last night! My first ever pie, really. It was delicious, but I somehow managed to not make enough dough, so it had no top. I'm not really sure what happened there, but next time I'll know to make more. This isn't a picture of my pie. But it makes you hungry, doesn't it? I want to make a blackberry pie next. Sunday, August 24, 2008. Is total reconciliation ever possible? Do we ever really "move on? Monday, August 18, 2008. You drive in and a friendly...

Saturday, February 28, 2009. At long last, photos of the quilt. At long last, I finally finished the quilt. And I finally took photos of it so you can see it. I picked a floral pink flannel for the backing and it's very soft, I think I will use flannel for the backs of all the quilts I make. Thursday, February 26, 2009. My newest piece of art. July 2013 ~ Giovanna's Trifles

Tuesday, July 16, 2013. A friend of mine told me that a developer is putting up mini-condos (micro-condos? In her Portland neighborhood. Her concern wasn't the small size, but the fact that the condos wouldn't have kitchens. The idea being, apparently, that people are content to take all their meals at restaurants, or eat grocery store to-go meals. Out of clam shell containers. And then there are all those great books that take place in rooming houses. A recent favorite: The Slaves of Solitude. Small Tal...

Thursday, December 18, 2008. Micah and Emily's pillows. I made Micah and Emily each a pillow for Christmas. I embroidered the images onto the fabric that I picked, added their names in embroidery at the bottom, sewed up the three sides on the sewing machine, stuffed them with poly-fill, and hand stitched the fourth side. I'm very happy with how they turned out. Holiday cupcakes and cookies. Kristen and Lance, surrounded by cookies. Jennye made the cookies. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tuesday, August 13, 2013. If bike rides and ice cream cones. Make me feel like a kid again, camping takes me right back to my first years as a young adult. Not because I spent those years backpacking, or even car camping. But the main reason camping reminds me of starting out in that first apartment is that many of the dishes and pans in our camp cookware box were my first dishes and pans. And especially this knife. I bought it one of the first days I was on my own. Boy did I feel grown up walkin...I pro...
Bike Rides and Ice Cream Cones ~ Giovanna's Trifles

Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Bike Rides and Ice Cream Cones. I think you all know I enjoy ice cream. A lot. So much, in fact, that in the beginning of this summer I spent a sunny Saturday walking 18 miles and tasting ice cream from 10 different shops. I promise to tell you about that before the leaves start to turn color. For now, I just want to talk about yesterday. It was hot here- 90 degrees. I'd gone for a 20 minute walk (each way) with a friend to our local tiki Bar, Hale Pele. Sometimes I choose my i...

Portland Coffee Hangouts | Early Sunday biking in search of ideal places to chat
Early Sunday biking in search of ideal places to chat. Still Need to Visit. Reviews of Neighborhood Shops. Feb 18, 2018– Bridgetown Bagels. March 6, 2018. Since our focus is hanging out and catching up with each other, we need to report that though the bagels were scrumptious, this outlet was not designed to encourage hanging out. Amenities are spartan: space is limited, coffee options are limited and there’s no tea available, and chairs are hard. 545 NE Couch Bridgetownbagel.com. February 17, 2018.

Portland Coffee Walk
A Walker's Guide to Coffee in Portland. We walk for exercise and stop for coffee. Here are some of the interesting places we found. Friday, May 6, 2011. In northwest Portland, is a great French boulangerie. Serving excellent Caffè Umbria coffee. For those who’ve forgotten their high school French, "boulangerie" means "bakery" and a bakery this certainly is. From hefty pains de compagne. To exotic crown-shaped couronnes. Yes, they really are crown-shaped.). The menu includes a great many breakfast. There ...
