Port Na Cailliche: Post Kew excitement!

http://portnacailliche.blogspot.com/2010/09/post-kew-excitement.html

Saturday, 4 September 2010. Well, today's trip to Kew was extremely successful! All images below are reproduced with permission. I wasn't anticipating finding much, but when collecting the first lot of records this is what I was presented with:. When unfurled this revealed a wealth of plans and long sections of the line including details of bridges, viaducts, and tunnels. It all looked like it had'nt seen the light of day for some considerable time. Notice to build the line under an order from the 1896 L...

Port Na Cailliche: Quick catch up

http://portnacailliche.blogspot.com/2010/09/quick-catch-pu.html

Friday, 3 September 2010. Just a quick post to say that I'm off to Kew to go and examine the plans for the proposed line on Skye tomorrow. I've also found some more details on the proposals and have used these to compile a history for the new layout. This is currently running at 12 a4 pages long! It's been helpful to establish some ground rules though, before starting on the new layout. Next week i'll post an update on what I uncovered at Kew. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Port Na Cailliche: July 2010

http://portnacailliche.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 6 July 2010. My modelling is normally quite slow in the summer, I tend to amuse myself with the usual modelling forum trawling, reading, doodling and my other hobbies. So progress is generally slow in the summer, especially when it's near 30 degrees fairly regularly! Too nice to be sat at the modelling bench. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Port Na Cailliche: May 2010

http://portnacailliche.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Monday, 10 May 2010. Portree Shed, AKA "What can I fit in a boxfile? For a while now I've been thinking about doing a small photographic diorama to pose my stock on for photographic purposes, and for a bit of fun whilst I'm avoiding finishing off clearing the loft to start 'the big layout'. A thread on NGRM. As Portree is the end of the branches to Uig and Dunvegan I thought that would be a good place for a stabling shed. There was a 1:24 layout based on the same idea. I might add some grass to the front...

Port Na Cailliche: Moving home

http://portnacailliche.blogspot.com/2010/09/moving-home.html

Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Not me, the blog. As mentioned before, I'm moving the blog to a new site. I'm going to use Wordpress from now on as it enables me to have a more traditional type site with pages in a style i prefer to blogger. I won't be transferring over the information from this blog as I'd like to make a clean break from the remnants of Port na Cailliche, fun though it was. The new site will focus on Isle Ornsay and it's development. Http:/ hlrco.wordpress.com/. Yet more Scottish postcards!

The Riber Valley Light Railway: The Railway has a home!

http://ribervalley009.blogspot.com/2010/11/railway-has-home.html

The Riber Valley Light Railway. This will be the story of the development of a 009 layout based on a railway serving one of the many collieries in the North Derbyshire Coalfield in the 1950's. It is entirely a product of my imagination so please don't count the rivets! Sunday, 14 November 2010. The Railway has a home! The shed is finished at last! The rest of the cladding was added over the course of several weekends as the enthusiasm and wallet dictated. Posted by Simon K. 27 November 2010 at 14:23.

Bethania: July 2010

http://bethanianwngr.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, 24 July 2010. Break it down and build it up. Well, it's amazing what 15 minutes and a jar of paint stripper will do. Russell was pretty soon down to its component parts. I found it quite intriguing watching all the previous liveries come through as each layer was stripped back. But that was the easy bit! Tuesday, 20 July 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bethania: Baldwin 50HP Gas Mechanical

http://bethanianwngr.blogspot.com/2011/01/baldwin-50hp-gas-mechanical.html

Sunday, 9 January 2011. Baldwin 50HP Gas Mechanical. After all that, it actually ran! A real emotional moment as this is the first kit I've got from etches to that point. At the head of a train I think it looks great. It's almost a shame that on the actual layout it'll just be used to shunt from the quarry branch to the station but I'm sure I'll let it get a run every once in a while! I did, however, learn a few lessons:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Baldwin 50HP Gas Mechanical.

Backofanenvelope's Railways: DCC choices

http://backofanenvelopes.blogspot.com/2009/05/dcc-choices.html

Random ramblings about railways here and there. Sunday, 3 May 2009. Ok for my final ramblings for today, I need to settle on a DCC platform. Having tried and brought both Lenz 100 Set and a Digitrax Zephyr amongst others, I am now looking to settle on one make. The two units I have selected are the Digitrax DT400 or the NCE Powercab. I am thinking more about the Digitrax DT400. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). RMWeb - Modellers Forum. Templot Forum - Track Design. NGRM Narrow Gauge Forum.

Truely a model of excellence and the subtle use of colour and effects go to make up a completely magical and almost real atmosphere. Anyway, here are some of my pics of the day.
