Portraits of the Planet

Portraits of the Planet. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. The Outer Banks: February Pelagic Tour. I've been pretty absent from my blog for the last several months, but I have been working on images and am just now getting around to sharing some of them. I'm delving into more alternative processes, but I am working on scanning my favorite prints to share with the world. For now, I'll leave you with some images from February, Valentine's Day Weekend. About two hours in, I spotted my first razorbill. The first ...

Portraits of the Planet: April 2013

http://portraitsoftheplanet.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Portraits of the Planet. Friday, April 26, 2013. We wandered around Tana the first day we were there and saw some of the sights. The Queen's Palace is a huge tourist draw in Tana, but no one is allowed without a guide. The site isn't well preserved, so the building is falling down in places. The giant white edifice is beautiful to look at from afar, but we decided not to take the tour inside. The Queen's House in Tana. The Mud Hut Palace. The black building is the actual Palace. View of Palace complex.

http://portraitsoftheplanet.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Portraits of the Planet. Sunday, December 30, 2012. Here is a nine image series from a sunset last week. I took an image every 5-7 minutes until the sun was gone. The clouds and everything were spectacular! It's been a busy couple of weeks here on the island, so I have been behind on my posts! Amanda in front of La Chapelle. Rocks at the entrance. Portraits of the Planet: North Carolina: The North Carolina Zoo

http://portraitsoftheplanet.blogspot.com/2015/01/north-carolina-north-carolina-zoo.html

Portraits of the Planet. Friday, January 9, 2015. North Carolina: The North Carolina Zoo. The North Carolina Zoo boasts an impressive five miles of trails and hundreds of species of animals. I could've spent all day in their aviary alone, and that is honestly where I spent most of my time (when I was oogling the polar bear). I also spent time watching four lion cubs terrorize their parents. The zoo is seriously impressive, and the habitats are HUGE which made me feel better. View my complete profile.

Portraits of the Ordinary

Portraits of the Ordinary. Wednesday, June 4, 2014. What a beautiful day to be alive! And then, just now, I consider that this morning’s walk brought me so much joy because the stillness of the morning and my freshly-awoken perspective allowed me to connect for a moment with all the plants and animals around me, forming a larger bit of consciousness – one ever so slightly closer to enlightenment. At this point I realize that perhaps the joy I experienced comes from that connection. Posted by Tara Gebhardt.
