POSITIVELY PARKINSON'S: The Progeny of Pain and Parkinson's Disease
http://positivelyparkinsons.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-progeny-of-pain-and-parkinsons.html
Parkinson's Disease - Challenges and Encouragement. Saturday, April 6, 2013. The Progeny of Pain and Parkinson's Disease. It was 15 years ago. Good Friday. Black Friday. It became the epicenter of a personal earthquake the aftershocks of which I still feel today. There was no physical pain, but a decision I made that day led to lifelong professional consequences, strained relationships, significant economic setbacks and a profound sense of loneliness. Unintentionally I had caused fear, sadness and anger,...
POSITIVELY PARKINSON'S: At Peace with the Unsolved Problem?
http://positivelyparkinsons.blogspot.com/2013/04/at-peace-with-unsolved-problem.html
Parkinson's Disease - Challenges and Encouragement. Friday, April 12, 2013. At Peace with the Unsolved Problem? The newspaper lay open on the restaurant counter. Whoever had last been seated there had left either in a hurry or in frustration, as an incomplete crossword puzzle advertised the departed patron’s defeat. That abandoned puzzle drew me, challenged me, taunted and tempted me. “Can you finish me off? 8220;We serve as trusted problem solvers”. When it comes to problem solving there seems to be 4 k...

Parkinson's Disease - Challenges and Encouragement. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Order in Court – Parkinson's Disease on Trial. 8220;Order in Court! How do I avoid becoming the subject of someone’s pity while honestly communicating the reality that I have an incurable, chronic and degenerative disease? This is my dilemma. The way I process this problem is to ask myself several questions. First, is an explanation necessary or appropriate? Posted by Bob Kuhn. March 25, 2013 at 1:01 AM. Good article Bob. I...

Day to day with Parkinson's Disease: Feet on the Ground
http://day2dayparkinsons.blogspot.com/2013/11/feet-on-ground.html
Day to day with Parkinson's Disease. One woman's journey caring for her husband diagnosed in 1994 with early onset Parkinson's Disease. Friday, November 15, 2013. Feet on the Ground. She roared a bit too fast into the parking lot, music blaring. Perhaps not the best way to introduce herself to a new social group, she thought, turning the music off too late to have prevented the turning of heads. Today marked a beginning and an end. How was that possible? Everything happened quickly. Her interview was...

http://offandonakpdrag.blogspot.com/2015/07/link-to-new-post-for-nwpf-uncooperative.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. Link to a new post for the NWPF, "The Uncooperative Patient". The Northwest Parkinson's Foundation posted the latest in a string of commentaries they commissioned from me here. This particular post departs from my typical bemused earnestness to indulge some cautious, carefully moderated gloating. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Now avialable from Penn State University Press. “[An] emotionally resonant memoir.” —Publishers Weekly. Anchorage Parkinson's Disease Support Group.
Off and On: The Alaska Parkinson's Rag: Ask the Wrong Question, Get the Wrong Answer
http://offandonakpdrag.blogspot.com/2015/07/what-is-this-cartoon-doing-here-it-was.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. Ask the Wrong Question, Get the Wrong Answer. What is this cartoon doing Here? It was inspired when I re-read the latest blog post I did for the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation. In a moment of weakness, I used my trusted position as a spokesperson for the millions suffering from a dread disease for a little unseemly gloating. On reflection I realize the question of how long I had to remain my vibrant, energetic, life-loving self was a stupid one. Understandable, but stupid.
Off and On: The Alaska Parkinson's Rag: "My Degeneration" Festinates a Step Closer to Publication

Tuesday, May 19, 2015. My Degeneration" Festinates a Step Closer to Publication. OK, show of hands, what is the difference between the two pages below, excerpted from the manuscript of my forthcoming book about living with young-onset Parkinson's Disease? The top is the way the page looked when I thought it was finished. The bottom is the way the page looks after encountering orthographic ninja Laura Reed-Morrisson, copy editor for Penn State University Press. Copy-editors and other editors can be a nuis...

We need to talk about what we're going to do with all our stuff when we leave." His voice was anxious. He had lurched into the kitchen to make this unusually coherent statement. positively passionate | my journey to hakuna matata
My journey to hakuna matata. Same same but different. July 4, 2015. When I got back to Canada, culture shock obviously kicked in a bit. But once I have somewhat settled in in Saskatchewan, things are becoming more and more similar. Since I have moved to the cabin, I am seeing so many similarities of living in Zanzibar and living at the Riverside Park. And after lots of hard work, the water was back on, well done! Which then got me thinking. Another culture that exists here is transportation. While in...
