Postcards from Motherland

Tuesday, November 24, 2009. I have a sore throat and am feeling generally run-down, so I came home early from work today. I've come off a recent stretch of working an awful lot, and I'm grateful, in a way, for the little bug I'm fighting off: I think I need the down time. I wrote what follows in an email to a good friend of mine; I think it does a nice job of crystallizing what's up with me of late. Enjoy the cheater's blog entry! There are several other things that are treating me well these days, prima...

Postcards from Motherland: September 2008

http://postcardsfrommotherland.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 28, 2008. Here are some recent pics of Kid A, including the adorable bath photos . I'm pretty new at posting photos, so I'm going to play with the layouts a bit. She's not quite 10 weeks old in this photo, but as you can see, she loves to look into the mirror at the beginning of the bath. The grins are incredible. Tonight's smiles were even better than these, but, alas, no camera. Just as well. And this is three minutes later. Oh, it's hard to be a baby. Friday, September 26, 2008.

Postcards from Motherland: Major developments

http://postcardsfrommotherland.blogspot.com/2009/09/major-developments.html

Saturday, September 5, 2009. Yes, it's true, it's been a while. Life has been a bit fuller of late, so the updates, they have been not so regular. I hope what is to follow makes up for it, a little bit. The other thing that has been disorienting and strange is that we made an offer on a house, and it was accepted! I feel so very grateful, and lucky, that these transitions have been so manageable, and I attribute that in large part to having this super solid foundation with the spouse. Thing, and now we'r...

Postcards from Motherland: June 2009

http://postcardsfrommotherland.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 5, 2009. This has been such a long week. I spent Tuesday and half of Wednesday in Santa Rosa, at my (hopefully! So last night*, she decided to stay up until 8:00. It was so nice to be able to finish feeding her her dinner, take a bath with her, and watch her play. Such a nice change from the rest of this week. TM even said she took an independent step while I ate my dinner and he supervised her playtime! We're pretty close to walking, I think. I predict before the end of the month. The "beac...

Postcards from Motherland: April 2009

http://postcardsfrommotherland.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 23, 2009. So much to say, so much to say. Boy, that's terrible: March 6 was really the last time I sat down to write anything? And even then, I was amazed at how the time was slipping away. Now that I'm up and running at work, it seems as though I am up and running from the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep. But Kid A seems to be sleeping in this morning, I'm having an easy breakfast, and my lunch is already at work, so surprise! First, the Kid A milestones update:. But here's o...

Postcards from Motherland: July 2009

http://postcardsfrommotherland.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 18, 2009. Warning: From Icky to Sappy. Two hours later (10 pm), it happened again. Fortunately, she didn't throw up as much, and we hadn't dressed her after the second stripping, so from clean up to back down was much faster (this time, though, it got in her hair, which . ew). Thursday, July 16, 2009. Our fabulous photographer, Nicole, came out to our place again last Saturday. Here's a sneak preview of three of the photos:. Http:/ nicolescarborough.blogspot.com/. and baby makes 3...: 11 months old

http://karenandrandy.blogspot.com/2010/03/11-months-old.html

And baby makes 3. Friday, March 12, 2010. I think I've been in denial about writing this one. His last update before turning one year old. I feel sadness that my little baby is growing up but I'm so so so excited for the very same reason. He is just more and more amazing everyday and there is so much to look forward to. Sleeping continues to go pretty well. He sleeps 11-12 hours a night with a 45 minute nap in the morning and a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon. Eating has been a little challenging. He s...

Ludwig Lane: May 2013

http://ludwigfamilygrows.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 31, 2013. Life as a Family of 5. It has been so great to be home and also have Randy home. He has primarily taken care of all of us. Chef, housekeeper, chauffeur, wardrobe coordinator and referee, among other things. He is going to take off at least one more week. Not sure when I can start driving but I can't lift anything heavier than Alex for 2-4 more weeks. We arrived at L& D around 12:45 am. I got settled into triage where they did an assessment and told me I was 4 centimeters dilated...

and baby makes 3...: December 2009

http://karenandrandy.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

And baby makes 3. Monday, December 28, 2009. Then it was back out to Randy's family's house for dinner. Whew! Danny did great. He got overwhelmed and overstimulated but seemed to really enjoy seeing all the family. He even showed off his new dance moves and did his best to crawl. He started clapping earlier this week too. Oh and he's up to eating 3 ice cube servings of veggies at night and enjoying more grains and fruits in the morning. Okay, so I guess there is newness after all. Monday, December 7, 2009.

Friday, May 31, 2013. Alexander Joseph was born on May 17, 2013 at 3:12 am (officially 3:15, but more on that later), weighing in at 9 pounds 5 ounces and 20 inches in length. His apgars were 8 and 9. We arrived at L& D around 12:45 am. I got settled into triage where they did an assessment and told me I was 4 centimeters dilated but they couldn't feel his head engaged. They did an ultrasound to reveal that he was breech! I had no idea they had even gotten started until I head them say "He is all boy!

Ludwig Lane: Transformations

http://ludwigfamilygrows.blogspot.com/2013/09/transformations.html

Monday, September 23, 2013. What an amazing summer it has been and what a privilege it has been for me to watch my boys grow, have fun and develop into new stages. And then there's Alex. What the heck, 4 months old already? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am a mom to 3 amazing boys under 5. With time flying by and my awful memory I want to create a space to document all the crazy so that one day, as I'm told, I'll look back with fond memories. View my complete profile. Postcards From My Guilt Trip | A mom's eye view from the corner of insanity and hilarity.

Get me outta here! Postcards From My Guilt Trip. A mom's eye view from the corner of insanity and hilarity. October 27, 2015. October 18, 2015. I have been living with my non-English speaking Korean in-laws since 2001. This was never the plan. After four years of covert dating and a less-than-parental-approved wedding, I anticipated seeing very little of my new in-laws. But as I soon learned (the hard way)real life is what happens when you are making other plans. If you consider possession 9/10. The size...

Postcards from my Life

Postcards from my Life. Unbeing dead isn't being alive. (e.e. cummings). Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Fight the War on Terror - for just 10 Bucks! We are saddened and shocked by the recent events here in Mali. In case you have not heard, five Europeans were kidnapped last month (a first), and one tragically lost his life when he resisted. One incident was in Hombori, a desert town in northeastern Mali, and the other in Timbuktu. Family. In 2006 there were 45,000 visitors, and each subsequent year the...

A garden and a library

A garden and a library. June 14, 2012. This week’s Trifecta challenge. Was to write between 33 and 333 words using the prompt “alley” and the definition:. 3: a narrow street; especially : a thoroughfare through the middle of a block giving access to the rear of lots or buildings. In the UK there are lots of regional variations on the word alley, so I thought I’d try and use as many as possible of these in my post. So many words to name a simple geographical entity. But is an alley all as it appears?
