Roundtop Ruminations: What a difference 3 days makes!
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-difference-3-days-makes.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Thursday, May 07, 2015. What a difference 3 days makes! What a difference three days makes! I took the first photo Sunday evening, when I could see my winter view was beginning to disappear, but even I didn’t think it would go this fast. I probably should have taken a photo on Sunday morning, as the view was still largely unobstructed then, and the difference from morning to evening was striking. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Roundtop Ruminations: July 2015
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Summer is here and with it comes heat, humidity and dense fog in the mornings. I am not a summer person and prefer to move slowly under cover of shade as much as possible. Links to this post. Friday, July 24, 2015. A day at camp. Walking down Roundtop to Beaver Creek. I also found this beetle, which was a bit over 1” long. I think it may be a broad-necked root borer but I’m not a bug person, so if anyone kno...Hot, hot, hot.

Roundtop Ruminations: February 2015
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Friday, February 27, 2015. Wishful thinking, maybe. Is it my imagination or just wishful thinking? To me it feels as though winter’s grip is loosening just the tiniest bit. Well, after tonight, anyway. Even on a cold day now, the sun is warmer. When I can stand in the afternoon sun someplace out of the wind, a day can feel almost balmy. It’s a welcome improvement. Links to this post. Monday, February 23, 2015. For myself, I am looking forward to day...

Roundtop Ruminations: You know it's mid-August when...
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015/08/you-know-its-mid-august-when.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Thursday, August 13, 2015. You know it's mid-August when. It’s time for the Perseid meteor shower! I got up at 4 am this morning and went up to the Roundtop’s north parking lot to watch the Perseids. Wow! For once it was clear and no moon was up to brighten the sky. Orion, that familiar winter warrior, was just above the eastern horizon. The milky way stretched the length of the sky. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I live in a cabin in the fores...

Roundtop Ruminations: December 2014
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Another year is about to end. I had such a busy year that to me 2014 seemed to last about 6 months, not 12. I am hoping for a somewhat quieter 2015 but who knows? As the author of Cache Lake Country. Links to this post. Monday, December 29, 2014. Maybe this will be the year that I tally 40 species on New Year’s Day. It’s something to look forward to. Links to this post. Monday, December 22, 2014. Winter has arrived offi...

Roundtop Ruminations: Last day of camp--already!
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015/08/last-day-of-camp-already.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Last day of camp- already! My adventure camp will be over after tomorrow. Where is the summer going? To me it feels as though I should only be on week 2 or 3, not week 8 of camp. Already the first of the poison ivy leaves are turning red, and now the famers are baling hay, too. Before I know it, pumpkins will be for sale at the local farm markets. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Subscribe To ...

Roundtop Ruminations: August 2015
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Friday, August 28, 2015. Going by so quickly. Some days I wish these lazy, hazy days of summer weren’t so crazy. Too many paths go unwalked, too many stars aren’t stared at and too many birds aren’t looked for. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 26, 2015. You know the summer is turning towards fall when. Links to this post. Monday, August 24, 2015. Can see a change in the undergrowth of the forest—there’s less of it. The first of ...It’s be...

Roundtop Ruminations: January 2015
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Friday, January 30, 2015. One after the other. Snowstorm after snowstorm. That’s how this winter is shaping up here on Roundtop Mtn. It’s a good thing most of the storms so far are small, as I can barely clean up from one before the next one follows a day or so later. I think three days between storms is the longevity record so far. Links to this post. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Wintertime.and the living ain't easy. Stone fence in snow. I’m no...

Roundtop Ruminations: November 2014
http://roundtoprumings.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Life in a cabin on a mountain in southern Pennsylvania. Monday, November 24, 2014. I did not intend for Roundtop Ruminations to sit idle for a week. Sometimes life moves so fast, I don’t know where it goes. I do have a good excuse for one day of my idleness—a power outage when the outside temperature was 16 degrees. Fortunately, my little fireplace kept me warm enough until the power returned. My second excuse is one I shouldn’t have, given my age and years of experience I have dealing with it. I was alm...
