One thing folks don't often realize is just how methodical a career mechanic can be. This is a picture of a mechanic's workbench at a motorcycle shop, taken around 1995. Note the things in this picture. The cylinder head is on a specially-made head holder, up off the bench. Spot the noteboard? How about the laptop?

I have been rebuilding carburetors and doing other chores on powersports vehicles for longer than, well, almost longer than I can remember. As of this writing I am into my 42nd year of continuous employment in the powersports industry. As a student at Los Angeles Trade Tech in the early 1970s, I had for an instructor Pat Owens. At one time Gene Romero's race tuner and later a Triumph company rep. Another of my instructors was Joe Minton. For over five years before being promoted to Curriculum Developer.
