frozen.oranges: January 2009
http://frozen-oranges.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2009. Ladies and gents, our society. Man, I can't wait for my beautiful, innocent 15-year-old daughter to think that this is the way she needs to dress for school. I'd like to think I'll be able to raise her with a little more confidence, but you know how kids get tangled up in societal-induced peer pressure. The following is just absolutely terrifying. The photos are from the newest issue of Teen Vogue. Yes, Teen. Who, by the way, is absolutely hilarious with their captioning.

A Flight of Ideas. December 2, 2008 at 10:57 am ( Uncategorized. I don’t have any happy things to say today. No good morals to the story of my life. I am sad and worn out, and I want out. I have cried myself to sleep three nights in a row. I am tired of nighttimes, where every dark thought creeps its way into my head, and there aren’t good answers to the problems that I have found myself in, and I wish I was 20 again and a smoker and a full of an arrogant resolve that said I could do anything. I am afrai...

frozen.oranges: why "frozen oranges"?
http://frozen-oranges.blogspot.com/2008/02/why-frozen-oranges.html
Saturday, February 9, 2008. All forms of self-harm serve a purpose to the people who do them, whether it's restriction, purging, self-mutilation, smoking, drugs, drinking, etc. the purpose is that these behaviors bring a sense of relief; they're coping mechanisms. they are commonly resorted to when a person is feeling emotions they don't want to deal with, and these behaviors are a way of escaping feelings. When i was in the walden partial program, they would keep frozen oranges in the freezer. when ...

Monday, September 29, 2008. It's the high holidays, folks! That means the service is coming to a conclusion. Unfortunately, the holidays (like the other 98.3% of the population's) come with stress and part of that stress always. 160;involves food in one way, shape, or form (no pun intended). Tonight, my mother received the infamous, "You gotta put some meat on her bones! 160;Girls these days don't eat enough! To which she replied, "Oh, haha! Like enjoying our sweet new year. frozen.oranges: communication is key.
http://frozen-oranges.blogspot.com/2009/02/communication-is-key.html
Monday, February 23, 2009. Somehow, we seem to think that because we live within ourselves, there doesn't need to be communication. That would be considered "talking to yourself," which is wrong and makes you look like a crazy person, am I right? I'm so not. Talking to yourself is not necessarily talking out loud. No one will ever be heard and no one's needs will be met. I stumbled over a really beautiful blog tonight. It's called " letters to my body. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ed terms to know.

A Flight of Ideas. October 7, 2008 at 11:21 am ( Uncategorized. I am learning new things about my body, now that I am thisclose to having my head cut open. Sleeves must not ride up on my upper arm. They must not be too tight. For a long time I did not wear ruffled or flutter sleeves because that made me feel too feminine and it made my shoulders look too broad and I felt not right so it was best to forgo them lest I feel wrong all day long. frozen.oranges: messing with clean slates.
http://frozen-oranges.blogspot.com/2009/02/messing-with-clean-slates.html
Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Messing with clean slates. Yeah, well, you're fat! The fourth grader - and healthy, strong tennis player - made a face. "Am not! That wasn't very nice," I said to the second grader, questioning myself. What am I promoting by saying this? Well, she is! She wasn't. But if she was, why is that still a terrible thing to say? If someone decided to comeback at me with, "Yeah, well, you're skinny,". I couldn't help but wonder if the reason was because we teach. Children that it is.
