Coding Misadventures: November 2007
http://programmingadv.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
What not to do in C programming. Thursday, November 1, 2007. On my previous post, I was asked if there was any specific reason to get the 20 year old program compiled on the latest compiler? It should be expected that the older executable would continue to run even on new versions of the OS. Here is the answer. There are many reasons for porting:. In our case, we moved from gcc 3.2.3 to gcc4.1.1 company-wide, for Linux platforms. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. A Geeky Sense of Humor.

What not to do in C programming. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Venturing Into Unchartered Territory. By default, the C compilers place string constants and (other constant data) into protected memory (read-only section), where they cannot be modified during the runtime. Here is a small program to illustrate the problem:. Static char * keys [] =. Abc", "def", "ghi", "jkl" };. Int my sm hash(char *strup). Int modified = 0;. Char ch = ' 0';. While ( ch = *strup)! What not to do in C programming. Wednesday, June 27, 2007. My 64-bit porting experiences - VI. We have always been instructed to reuse code, as it makes the code more maintainable. But it can sometimes be taken too far (too much of a good thing? 61 Objects of different sizes in a union. Int getVal {return bVal;}. Exp *getExpr {return bExpr;}. Int hasExpr {return isExpr;}. What not to do in C programming. Monday, November 26, 2012. And that's the way it is! One of the errors reported by Coverity on our code was this:. Logical vs. bitwise operator (CONSTANT EXPRESSION RESULT). Sense is always 1/true regardless of the values of its operand. This occurs as the bool operand of assignment. Did you intend to use '! Rather than ' '. The code it referred to was something like:. Note: If we write:. Bool result = sense;. Instead, we get the same result and same error. View my comple...

Tuesday, December 04, 2012. More flowers from around home. Back with some more flowers - clicked in the apartment complex I live in - that had been lying on my disk, waiting for more than 2 months to be posted. Come rain, and lilies start blooming all around! A solitary mustard sprig. A couple of yellow lilies in midst of white. Yellow ones are relatively rare, and pink are rarer). Nature - around us. Travel Memoirs: Coorg
http://shalinistravelogue.blogspot.com/2013/05/coorg.html
Thursday, May 09, 2013. We visited Coorg in Sept 2012, when my parents had come over for a visit. I didn't get around to make this post since then; and now, with all the time lag, its going to be just a picture post . Cauvery - almost at a standstill. Supposed to be a riverside resort. Though this was all we could see of the Cauvery - and not with ease either. Toy train in a play area near Raja's seat. Couldn't get any clear pictures from Rajah's seat viewpoint due to the haze. The pathway at Abbey Falls.

Travel Memoirs: Coorg - Dubare
http://shalinistravelogue.blogspot.com/2013/05/coorg-dubare.html
Thursday, May 09, 2013. On the way back from Coorg, we planned to visit the Dubare elephant camp, where my son could enjoy bathing and feeding the elephants. Like most kids, seeing animals make him happy, even if he is a little scared. And he is just crazy about water - he can spend any amount of time playing in it! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tuesday, October 16, 2012. In an around Bangalore - Nandi Hills. It is essentially a small hill, about 60 kms from where I reside. You can drive up to the top of the hill, where there is a garden, and an ancient temple. It might have been a beautiful place, but for the ill-maintained garden, and lot of construction (presumably for some resort-cottages) that will block the nice view you can have from the top of the hill. Friday, November 02, 2012. And rather packed with the visiting humans, and resident simians. The stairs are well built, though a bit difficult to get down, due to the incline. Climbing up was a lot more tougher! We also passed by an ancient temple, and made a stop there on our way back. Though it didn't look quite so ancient from outside, once inside we could see that the idols and the original shrines were really old. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
