Projects Plenty

Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Part 1: Sitting Area. While furnishing our new kitchen hearth area, I recently addressed the area by the stair well. This is an old picture taken before construction. Here is the area during the expansion project (area by the two arched openings, far right just beyond scaffolding):. Area when construction was completed, unfurnished. I decided to use this as a seating area and went with a pair of leopard wing chairs (already had one and just recently purchased a second). To fix...

Projects Plenty: March 2012

http://projectsplenty.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 4, 2012. We needed a chair for the hearth area in our kitchen, to be placed to the right of the leather chair shown below, replacing an old chair we have now (the second photo shows my Dober boy Max in the chair being replaced). Here is a close up of the pattern of the fabric. You can sort of see the texture of the fabric in the second image (and a Dober head popping up at the perimeter of the doggie fence). And the back, with more croc embossed leather. Motivated Monday at Be Colorful.

Projects Plenty: Textured and Glazed Handrail

http://projectsplenty.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-first-posted-project-painted.html

Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Textured and Glazed Handrail. Here is a pic showing the raw wood hand rail at the bottom of the stairway. Since I wanted an all-iron look, I decided not to stain the handrail. Instead, I did a metallic paint treatment that had texture that mimicked metal. After priming the raw wood, I applied texture (weathered bronze lusterstone) with a chip brush, and lightly sanded after it dried. Here is a pic of the lusterstone after sanding. Projects Plenty: Expanding the Kitchen Hearth Living and Dining Area

http://projectsplenty.blogspot.com/2013/04/expanding-kitchen-hearth-living-and.html

Monday, April 15, 2013. Expanding the Kitchen Hearth Living and Dining Area. Another view from the far wall of the area. To begin, a small foundation had to be poured that would support the new lanai (see below). The boxed jut out (with that God awful roof vent above it, that is thankfully now gone) is where the old fireplace was located. Below is an exterior view of demolition involving removal of the old fireplace and wall. lots of media wires. Tile flooring almost complete. Below is a view of the wall...

Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Lower Level: New Hide Chair and Rug. The furniture ordered for our lower level finally came. One piece is a replacement (due to upholstering defect) for a hide arm chair that I had already purchased. The chair that was replaced is shown below. You can see the defect in the second image (middle back).`. Here is the replacement chair. It is fine, but I preferred the hide on the original one. This image shows the hide that is on the right side of the new chair. Vintage Inspiration Fr...

Projects Plenty: The Kitchen Backsplash

http://projectsplenty.blogspot.com/2010/08/kitchen-backsplash.html

Monday, August 2, 2010. When we were building our home, one of the choices that I had the most difficulty making was picking out a kitchen backsplash. I just wasn't sure what I wanted or material and design I wanted to commit to. here are some "before" pics of the kitchen backsplash area. This is the backsplash after grouting. I kind of wish I had gone with a darker grout. Here is a close-up of the mural and listello liner simple, but still interesting) . Linking to Metamorphosis Monday. Oh my gosh, Lori...

Designed for Life: October 2011

http://designedforlife.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

A blog about life and design, the way we design our lives, and the way our lives have been designed. Wednesday, October 12, 2011. I have been sadly lax at updating my blog as of late. Honestly, I doubt if anyone is still hanging in there with me, after all this time. I feel as if I owe you (the short version) of an explanation. So, if you've kept up - thank you, bye the way - but I haven't updated since July. However, all good things must come to an end. Which is where this blog post leads me. I ...I tha...

A blog about life and design, the way we design our lives, and the way our lives have been designed. Friday, December 31, 2010. Seeing Red, and cheetah. My lovely daughter has decided to "update" the look of her bedroom. I would have been satisfied with cleaning it, but what's a mom to do? I totally see a version of my messier self when I walk in there. and I hope she doesn't also inherit my OCD tendencies when she's older. Yesit's true. I do love the smell of a clean house. Back to the upgrade. Green wa...

A blog about life and design, the way we design our lives, and the way our lives have been designed. Thursday, March 17, 2011. It is a beautiful sunny morning here. I hope you're feeling the warmth of the sun where you are today, as well. I haven't posted very much lately. There are many reasons. But I've been contemplating why I blog - why I post what I post. I do love shoes! I'll have to post about that soon. What do I do that I enjoy? What do I spend time on that you might enjoy? On that note, last Sa...

A blog about life and design, the way we design our lives, and the way our lives have been designed. Saturday, February 26, 2011. Can't wait to show you the new. It may be a few days before I'm ready to post all the pictures of what's going on here at our crazy house. It all began like this:. Last Sunday we had a family girl scout outing - we drove to a ski slope for some family tubing. Great! The washer was broken.
