Project mumblings: July 2015

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. Camofalcon 2: the return of the pattern's revenge. Last Wednesday I finally got to sit down next to my model and I happily airbrushed a couple of wide brown (VMA 71125 USAF Brown) bands across the plane. I had not planned on the pattern in advance, as usual. This time I felt that the form-breaking worked much better than in my unpublished test version titled " let's just see how the colours play together. First of all I ma...

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. The Pick a Shade game. After this was done I took a small step away from my comfort zone and sliced off the necessary decals (9) from the sheet. My first stop was, naturally, the back seat, because it's instrument panel only required one decal. The front one took two and they overlapped each other a bit vertically. All three of IP decals were somewhat larger than the pieces they were to be set on. At this point it was the ...

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. The yule goat had given me a Lego V-Wing as a silly surprise. My 2,5-year-old production assistant got much more excited about it than I did, and I consider that a really good sign for the future. Luckily the bright green things were pretty easy to find from under the dvd shelf. To protect the innocents I'm only displaying pics of my own fingers. Super Win the Game. When I started seeing screenshots of Super Win the Game.

Project mumblings: Back from the vacation
http://projectmumblings.blogspot.com/2015/07/back-from-vacation.html
Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. Back from the vacation. I happened to spend a couple of hours in Oviedo's Parque Principado, most of that time in a shop called FNAC. And I didn't leave empty-handed. Their curious stuff -shelves were digged through very thoroughly and I picked up two new Metal Earth Models packets, thanks to my good experiences with their AT-AT model. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Camofalcon 2: the return of the patterns revenge.

Project mumblings: January 2015

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. Gluing the three parts of the inflatable boat didn't take more than a moment. Of course at that point I noticed that the seam area's painting was imperfect. While I was tinkering around, I glued on the oars and then the rope pieces so that the impending reairbrushing would cover up the glue stains. Hans tests the inflatable boat. Easy does it again. We're on the second full work-week after my vacation and I still haven't g...

Project mumblings: Camofalcon

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. A safe choice for the bottom. I started the actual painting on the belly of the plane, as I hadn't been able to decide what the pattern should be. My fingers kept itching so I did something at least. I did my work on the belly, racks/pylons and the unattached drop tanks with light grey (VMA 71121 USAF Light Grey). Somehow a light underside sounded like a safe option, no matter what the rest would end up like. Not that redo...

Project mumblings: December 2014

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. The long-ignored stand had to be painted at some point. I had primed it at the same time with the u-boat itself, so all I had to do was to choose the paint. Another grey would fit in the theme and a darker shade of it would also not steal the attention from the model itself. Wheter or not that's a good thing will be left for the observer to decide. Despite all the traditional " get that thread through the needle's opening.

Project mumblings: The gunnery dept

Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. The nineteen-rocket capacity LAU-3 was something that I liked an awful lot in the OFP. The pieces were primed along some other stuff and later on I painted them light grey just like everything else on the bottom side of the plane. The faces and the rocket tips I painted metallic and later on I applied a bluish wash on the rocket tips (assuming that they don't play their war games with live ordnance). Endless Bag of Games.

Project mumblings: May 2015
http://projectmumblings.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Random, weird and apparently verbose text about plastic models, 'mechs and gaming. This is a bit confusing, we're in May and the third build of the year is to be started. I'm not assuming this to take long, but maybe a couple of sessions at least. Of course that all depends on how badly my neck / shoulders get stuck with this one. Metal Earth Models AT-AT. I am aware, that the Kickstarter success, Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity, was opened to everyone a bit before easter. Myself, I got to try it out ...
