Saturday, November 26, 2011. Homework During the Transition Years. One of my friends shared how she was spending a great deal of time helping her child with homework. Her child has an IEP. There are many different perspectives about education and what is appropriate for children, but I feel that with a little information, the process selecting appropriate homework can be negotiated with a bit more clarity. Some questions for the team to discuss:. What does this child hope to do after high school? Looking...

You can't give up after one reje...

Tuesday, December 27, 2011. New Calendars, New Opportunities! It never seems like we have enough time. At the turn of a new year, many of us enjoy picking out that fresh new calendar or day planner, and make promises to ourselves that this time we will fill it and follow it according to what matters most. Whether we honor that promise or not, time will tell. I stumbled across this article: http:/ www.gsb.stanford.edu/news/research/aaker happiness 2011.html. 1 Spend time with the right people. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Taking Back Your Space. I am far from Suzie Homemaker, whoever she is, but I want to take some time to discuss how we manage our space. A neat freak would not accurately describe me at all. I would say I have organization appreciation and aesthetic awareness. Things Look Promising as we are empowered to improve our spaces! Saturday, August 27, 2011. 5 Competitive Job Searching Skills for Youth. According to the US Department of Labor statistics http:/ www.bls.gov/news.release/youth.nr0.htm. Employment rates for our youth are at an all time low. It is a quite different situation than I had as a 1989 High School graduate. Most of my friends and I had jobs, and to be honest, I did not have a hard time finding a job. Our youth today have to work hard to be competitive in this job market, but there is hope. Sunday, February 26, 2012. Guardianship: Self-Reflection Questions to Keep it Real. Guardianship is one of the hardest issues to discuss with parents of children with Aspergers or similar conditions. When a child gets to the age 18, they become their own legal guardian, and have all of the rights and responsibilities that go with that. The process of Guardianship takes several months and it requires that parents substantiate a need for guardianship, describing how their child is vulnerable. 7 Does your c...
