Why? | Proverbs In Programming

https://proverbialprogrammer.wordpress.com/2006/09/12/hello-world

Applying timeless wisdom to Agile Programming. What is wise for life might be wise for programming too. I’ve decided to open this blog in hopes that I and the occasional visitor can explore biblical truth for programmers. It’s a weird goal, maybe, but maybe it will matter to someone. Don’t Be Underhanded | Proverbs In Programming

https://proverbialprogrammer.wordpress.com/2006/09/12/dont-be-underhanded

Applying timeless wisdom to Agile Programming. Don’t Be Underhanded. Keeping with chapter 1, the Proverbs tell us to be careful about the company we keep. But lets turn this to code. We’re told not to join among those who look for gain by violence or subtlety. Our “gain” in code is that people will pay us for increased functionality. Seeking Wisdom | Proverbs In Programming

https://proverbialprogrammer.wordpress.com/2006/09/12/seeking-wisdom

Applying timeless wisdom to Agile Programming. One of the first topics in the biblical book of Proverbs is the truth that fools despise instruction, whereas the wise seek it. The same fact comes later in the form of “do not cast your perls before swine.”. It is obviously good to search for wisdom and understanding. We all want to be ise and none of us would intentionally choose to be (or remain) a fool. So where are the storehouses of programming wisdom? Where is this well? To keep up than to catch up.

Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow | Proverbs In Programming

https://proverbialprogrammer.wordpress.com/2014/04/16/dont-stop-thinking-about-tomorrow

Applying timeless wisdom to Agile Programming. Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow. We find programmers who learned “all you need to know” about Java or C years ago. They’re fully self-sufficient programmers, not needing any “help” from pair programming or TDD. They don’t really need unit tests because their code “always works.” They reached a level of professionalism that held them above their peers. And they stopped. Dead. A little sleep, a little slumber,. A little folding of the hands to rest. This bu...

Liz Keogh, lunivore. How do you terminate a project in your org? July 18, 2016. Prompts me to put down the many estimation anti-patterns I’ve encountered. It also reminds me of his blog post on the Perils of Estimation. A while back, I ran a series of talks on Respect for People. I talked about systems which encourage respect being those which are constrained or focused, transparent, and forgiving. Liz Keogh, lunivore. Showcasing the language of BDD →. May 17, 2012. A lot of times when I go to conferences, I’ve already got a slew of half-formed ideas and thoughts from the amazing communities with whom I hang out. The conferences have been fantastic for helping me refine and validate those ideas, but it’s been a while since I’ve come across anything genuinely new. What is BDD? | Liz Keogh, lunivore

https://lizkeogh.com/2015/03/27/what-is-bdd

Liz Keogh, lunivore. The Shallow Dive into Chaos. A Dreyfus model for Agile adoption →. March 27, 2015. At #CukeUp today, there’s going to be a panel on defining BDD, again. BDD is hard to define, for good reason. First, because to do so would be to say “This is BDD” and “This is not BDD”. When you’ve got a mini-methodology that’s derived from a dozen other methods and philosophies, how do you draw the boundary? I’m still using scenarios in conversation to explore and define requirements, with all ...

On Monday at LKNA13, I ran an ignite talk on the title above. It was prompted by a video clip of John Seddon talking to Jeffrey Liker.
