I must say, I was pretty inspired by both women, but Julie, in particular. The fact that she cooked her way through that ENTIRE cookbook.and blogged about her experiences.is impressive. Her willingness to stick with it, even to the point of de-boning a duck, is admirable. Try this recipe and you'll find out. 3 lbs lean ground beef.

I've always avoided canning vegetables because, in my mind, canning had to involve a pressure cooker and, well, I don't DO pressure cookers. Within the last few years, my pea-brained mind has finally figured out that perfectly delicious canning can be accomplished without one! Enter my bread and butter pickles; they are delicious, if I do say so myself! And, I don't think anyone will come down with a bad case of botulism!
