The Placebo Effect | psucfb

Just another WordPress.com site. Placebos (an inert substitute for a real drug) are often used as a comparison when investigating the effectiveness of a medicine; however, are these little sugar pills necessarily a good thing? They’ve been switched on! Although placebos can give a good basis by which drugs can be compared to, there are problems which can negatively effect both the participants and the validity of the research. Covert Participant Observation | psucfb

https://psucfb.wordpress.com/2012/02/19/covert-participant-observation/#comment-56

Just another WordPress.com site. When thinking about observations, many people think of a guy judging people in his notepad. But there are some researchers who use participant observation as a way to gain data. This style of observation consists of the researcher joining their subjects in their activities overtly or covertly, in other words “putting yourself in their shoes”. But is this covert observation a good way to collect data? Comments for Wendy :). Comments for Wendy :). Feb 20, 2012. Feb 21, 2012.

Just another WordPress.com site. Skip to primary content. March 11, 2012. If you told me before coming to Bangor University that as part of an assessment in research methods that I would have to stand up in front of about a dozen other students and quite frankly, talk for three minutes to them about a random topic E.g. ‘Which do you prefer a mac or a pc? I would have probably laughed in your face However after experiencing POPPS for a couple of years the benefits are unquestionable. Using these technique...

An interesting concept for a POPPS prepared speech. Should have Clive Wearing been tested on if he couldn’t remember giving consent? | I. R. Jarvis

The magical world of Research Methods and Statistics. An interesting concept for a POPPS prepared speech. Should have Clive Wearing been tested on if he couldn’t remember giving consent? This raises quite an unpleasant feeling and questions the motion of giving fully informed consent. Surely it would have taken more than 30 seconds to explain the full aims and procedures of any study? And isn’t the point of giving consent to protect the participant? 8211; http:/ www.telegraph.co.uk/health/331...However i...

February 5, 2012. Welcome back to the blogging world, I hope you enjoy my blogs of 2012 just as much as you did 2011. Lol! So this week I’m going to talk about Animal research.
