Sunday, February 22, 2009. Jacob and Joseph got their scores back from the ACT. Jacob (grade 8) got a 30 and Joseph (grade 7) scored 23. This was Jacob's second time taking the test and Joseph's first. They get the opportunity through the Midwest Talent Search, a program from Northwestern University that provides educational opportunities for gifted students. By the way, this is what a gifted kid looks like in his native habitat. We need to make do with the space we have. Sam finished making his fleece b...

Bills Family Report: June 2009
http://billsohio.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 21, 2009. Well, it wasn't called 8th grade graduation, but it behaved like one. It began with marching the kids in to that graduation song, announcing each person by name. There talks by student council members and the principal, and music provided by the challenge choir. Special awards were given out to outstanding students, and special recognition was given for achievements like 4.0 GPA and student of the year. I think the kids enjoyed the walk. They found some switch grass to make swo...

Bills Family Report: Jacob in Quebec
http://billsohio.blogspot.com/2009/05/jacob-in-quebec.html
Sunday, May 10, 2009. The trip started with an early morning meeting at the middle school. Jacob and I were the first ones at the school at around 5:45AM. We took Jesse with us. She likes to go in the car to pick Jacob up from track practice. I tried to get a picture of Jacob, but he kept closing his eyes with the flash. Also, several of the photos came out. I missed the full report because I had to work the evening Rebecca. And real maple syrup. Mmmmm. Armour (swords, helmets, cool stuff), roller coaste...

Sunday, January 25, 2009. He also had my pillow that I forgot to grab from the backpack. A mixture of ramen noodles and cans of vegetable soups- watery and warm and oh, so nice to hold a cup full of that soup. We made it home safely after participating in an official scouting event. Overall, it was worth the trip. We managed our minor crises, played some games, and got to observed how other boys interact. Throughout the experience, I kept thinking, "How did our ancestors do this? Friday, January 16, 2009.

Bills Family Report: Lots of snow
http://billsohio.blogspot.com/2010/02/lots-of-snow.html
Sunday, February 7, 2010. 10AM We have been completely surprised by the amount of snow that we've been getting here in Virginia. Yesterday, another major storm this season dumped 20 or more inches on most places in the region, and we have had three or four smaller storms (3-8 inches). We did lose power in our home for about 2 hours Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, that was the only time we have lost power this winter. February 7, 2010 at 5:25 PM. Bills Family Report: November 2008
http://billsohio.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 21, 2008. Napping on a big couch Sunday afternoon. Sunday, November 2, 2008. We just painted our white house blue. What's the nation going to do? Rebecca just said, "It's a good thing it's not red." She took me canvassing for Obama yesterday and reminding people to vote. This was the first time we have actively participated in the politcal process other than showing up to vote. It was fun. We do plan on painting the door red, someday. As Jacob says, "Bipartisanship.". It happened on a co...

Bills Family Report: Sex Talk with a Two-Year-Old
http://billsohio.blogspot.com/2009/05/sex-talk-with-two-year-old.html
Sunday, May 31, 2009. Sex Talk with a Two-Year-Old. About a week ago, Rebecca went shopping at a thrift store with the girls. Her primary purpose was to find straw hats for making bonnets. These bonnets will be used in This is Kirtland. Play While there, the girls saw many items that they thought they needed, such as purses, swim suits, pants, shoes, stuffed animals, etc., and they negotiated and pleaded with their mother and managed to convince her to purchase them. Bills Family Report: Christmas Letter 2009
http://billsohio.blogspot.com/2010/01/christmas-letter-2009.html
Sunday, January 10, 2010. Friday, September 3, 4AM, Provo, Utah. My cell phone rang, awakening me from my cozy bed at the Marriott. I heard Tom’s terse voice demand, “Where did Abby put my driver’s license? By the way, Abby was exonerated two months later when Tom’s license showed up in the bag of swim gear, exactly where he put it when we took the family to Cumberland Pool one last time before we left for Utah.
