Arhh! | A fool at one end...

A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. November 9, 2014. Far from ideal, dead calm and really warm for the time of year with a blazing sun in a cloudless blue sky beating down for most of the day. And to make it worse I wasn’t alone, in fact I have never seen it so busy down there what with the number of rods or the record number of dog walkers. A friend who was also fishing further along had a good bass after high which stopped me from packing up for a while, b...

August returns | A fool at one end...

A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. August 25, 2014. The picture really is deceptive as I originally thought it would have made 4 lb but looking at it now I think it would struggle to make 3 1/2 lb, which ties in with the bass length to weight chart (52cms). Not today | A fool at one end...
https://anincorrigible.wordpress.com/2014/11/10/not-today
A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. November 10, 2014. Fish the tide up and over for a few hours, conditions looked great and the sea had turned a nice colour. I was full of optimism but after 3 hours I decided enough was enough and trudged back dejected. Filed in Daily Diary. 183;Tags: bass fishing. 2 Responses to “Not today”. November 11, 2014 at 8:58 pm. A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. Like a cheap coffee. October 25, 2014. The second weighed 4lb 15oz (what is it with the missing once, and does it. And the third a good 2lb which went straight back without a picture. Really keen to get back out again I was back out on the next tide and unbelievably into another good bass, which at just over 27″ made 8lb 3oz. All bass were returned to provide sport for future generations. Filed in Daily Diary. Create a free...

In quiet reverie | A fool at one end...

A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. August 9, 2014. Miss it, sometimes you even kid yourself that you don’t need it anymore but then you catch yourself wishing you had made that tide, wishing you had made the effort. Well tonight I made that effort and let me tell you it was great to feel the breeze and smell of the sea air after what feels like weeks of hot, humid weather. Left alone in the dark now with only a pair of anglers to far away for company, I was ...

Every cast a coconut… | A fool at one end...

A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. Every cast a coconut…. December 6, 2014. Lads, I’m guessing two friends and a brother that had to come along, trudged past me on a deserted beach. There seems to be an unwritten rule in angling that says no matter how many miles of beach there is you must fish as close to anyone who is fishing, so it was no surprise when they set up camp next to me. If you change your mind… | A fool at one end...

A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. If you change your mind…. August 15, 2014. In the car and he is not happy, his sister is out all day with Mum so he’s stuck with me. Pull up and we are both surprised by the strength of the wind, oh well if the forecast is right it’s meant to drop this afternoon. The walk across the stones feels encouraging and it’s starting to feel good. That’s a splendid fish are you going to eat it? The long walk back was full of talk so...

A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. Cormorant v Commercial v Crab. July 5, 2015. With no action on the baited rod I used my second to cast around a weedless lure among the now rising kelp beds and soon found myself competing for territory with the earlier cormorant. But it all felt a bit lifeless, so with no further activity I had one last cast deciding my time was up before I was pushed off my mark by the incoming tide. Filed in Daily Diary. December 29, 2014.

… let them eat steak | A fool at one end...
https://anincorrigible.wordpress.com/2014/08/17/let-them-eat-steak
A fool at one end…. And a worm on the other. Reflections of a Mediocre Fisherman. 8230; let them eat steak. August 17, 2014. The success of my last trip I was back out eager to try again. The wind wasn’t as strong and the conditions were if anything slightly improved. Used the 2 rods again, one out at distance and the other close in. 8217; after a short chat she left but then turned around with rain pouring down her face and said, ‘if they don’t eat fish tonight let them eat steak.’.
