Sunday, November 30, 2008. 2008 Yellow Boy Awards. The term Yellow Boy was created during the 2001 season. In practice the 2nd unit wears yellow pinnies during our scrimmages. The second unit is made up of players from the JV and freshman squads. We would get excited about trying to outplay the 1st team offense and defense in practice and began calling ourselves the Yellow Boys.
