Nerima Gardens | The Other Capital
http://www.theothercapital.com/2015/03/nerima-gardens.html
It seems a bit pointless posting anything on Queens Park, given it is so well promoted through the usual Ipswich tourism channels, but we love visiting Nerima Gardens. It's a great spot for tourists and locals alike, with plenty of interesting stuff to walk around and gawk at, and plenty of quiet spots to sit and do nothing. The gardens are named after Ipswich's sister city in Japan and were opened in 2001 by the mayors of both cities. To see a complete list. Queens Park, Goleby Avenue, Ipswich 4305.

Strictly Coffee | The Other Capital
http://www.theothercapital.com/2015/03/strictly-coffee.html
Strictly Coffee opened its doors on Brisbane Street this week. They deliver what the name promises. The coffee comes fast and tastes good. What more do you want? It's mostly a whole-in-the-wall coffee joint, but also has a couple of tables out the back. The design is a mish mash of industrial (the bar is made of slabs of concrete) and upcycle (doors made into tables), which works well. The space is busy but relaxed. 86 Brisbane Road, Ipswich, 4305. Opening hours: 6am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

Emmaramm Gallery and Espresso. Wander down the stairs of the old flour mill and you'll find Emmaramm Gallery and Espresso. The old mill is a great space, and it's a shame that it's not better used. Thankfully, Emma is putting part of it to good use, having opened an art gallery in April. The work exhibited is always changing, so make sure to check Emmaramm's Facebook page. Peak Organics | The Other Capital
http://www.theothercapital.com/2014/10/peak-organics.html
Head down Wawrick Rd out of Ipswich and you'll pass through some really charming country. Just as you come into Peak Crossing, there is a left hand turn onto Mt Flinders Rd, which takes you through to a little farm called Peak Organics. I, however, took a wrong turn into a campsite and found myself surrounded by hippies who had convened for a coal seam gas conference. Coal seam gas might present some problems to our environment, but that's not a patch on confusing signs. Peak Organics welcomes visitors, ...

Smith | The Other Capital
http://www.theothercapital.com/2014/10/smith.html
Smith has been one of our favourite coffee spots since moving to Ipswich. It's a small, tidy café in a quiet semi-residential street in town. Great coffee, friendly staff, and a nice place to sit and unwind. This breakfast, by the way, was incredible. Everything was cooked to perfection, the flavours were all spot on, and the size of it nearly put me into a full blown food coma.
