Garter stitch is perfect for tour knitting - it does not take any effort and one can keep track of everything that happens in the race. Now, you may think you have seen this scarf before. I have knitted another one. Only I changed the colors a bit. I simply wanted a red and turquoise one. Both yarns are Rauma finull.

I'm still getting used to all the bumps and squeaks in the night, and one thing I haven't attempted to master yet is the garage. It's a small, one-car garage with a door opener. Wee! I started the engine and peeked out the window, trying to align my car with the weensy little opening. It was like threading a needle. Or putting on ...And t...

Fortunately, on days when the feet are cold and the firewood doesn't suffice, there's always something you can count on to warm the bones. Soup. I love a good thick soup on a cold day, and there's almost nothing thicker than split pea. Mine is made with shallots and turkey ham, topped in a crown of sour cream and scallions. 1 pound dried split peas.
