Quilting As Desired

Monday, June 18, 2012. Red White Blue and Christmas. A few weeks ago I showed my design wall with a mixed up bunch of red, white, and blue blocks. This is what I came up with. I'll donate this to Quilts of Valor next week. The backing idea came from / http:/ www.maryquilts.com/off-center-4-patch-backing/. The backing and border fabric was given to me, but the patches and squares for the top were leftovers just waiting to be used. And of course I quilted my favorite swirls. Another Log Cabin for Jean.

Quilting As Desired: February 2012

http://quiltingasdesired.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. February Challenge Quilt #1. My One Block Wonder is finished! Thanks to Judy at Patchwork Times. And her UFO Challenge. This month I have been busy quilting for others but I made an effort to save a day to quilt this for myself. It isn't for a show or a gift or anything special, just for me to hang on the wall in my quilting area. The quilting isn't planned out or fancy. I played with curls in the border, swirls in the center, and some X's in the small green border. As usual...

Quilting As Desired: December 2011

http://quiltingasdesired.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 26, 2011. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. We are. Sorry for the fingers. It was windy. This is what I made last week. It was a gift for my husband so I kept it a secret. But I did sneak it on the 2012 Unfinished Projects list as # 12 Flannel. Does anyone else give unfinished quilt tops as gifts? The Ohio Star blocks are really nice after they are pressed and laid out. And, I am still completing Step 5 by using them as leaders / enders. And Patchwork Times Design Wall Monday.

Quilting As Desired: January 2012

http://quiltingasdesired.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 30, 2012. Design Ironing Board, Door, and Table. My design wall still holds the Civil War blocks that I showed last post with no progress. So today I am featuring my design ironing board, design door, and design table. The ironing board holds Orca Bay. And on the design table are some crumb blocks. Why did I make these this weekend? Well, because on Friday, I talked to a quilting friend about using "crumb" scraps to make blocks and usable fabric, so the technique was on my mind. Then ...

Quilting As Desired: Blogger's Quilt Festival, Fall 2011

http://quiltingasdesired.blogspot.com/2011/10/bloggers-quilt-festival-fall-2011.html

Saturday, October 29, 2011. Blogger's Quilt Festival, Fall 2011. I am so excited to share my first entry in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. This is a quilt that I made this past summer for my brother-in-law Jim. Also known to us as Uncle Buster or Grunkle. In the spring I made a couple of quilts to donate to Quilts of Valor. So the colors red, white, and blue were on my mind. These colors also suited for Jim because he is a Vietnam Veteran and a very patriotic person. Star quilt for Jim. I gave Jim his qui...

Long arm quilting at its best! Welcome to Quilting Arts Studio Calgary,. My story is fairly traditional, in that I grew up surrounded by women who created wonderful "things" from textiles as well as every other material available. They reduced, renewed, reused before it was fashionable; they lived in a frugal era. A happy journey (not without some tense moments) and I feel very. Fortunate and blessed to be able to do long arm quilting for others. Be sure to check out my studio pictures. As I have lost.

Quilting as a Second Language

Quilting as a Second Language. Tuesday, August 21, 2012. A Halloween quilt is JUST what I've been looking for! It's boring to read about why someone hasn't blogged in ages. I mean, just blog already, right? So I will. Once I've gotten back in the swing of things I'll write a little about the life changes around here in the last 3 months. Suffice to say I have LOTS of time to quilt these days :/. But enough of the boring.have you ever done a Halloween quilt? OMG how does she think that stuff up? I know I'...

What I am doing today through quilting. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. June 21, 2015. This is Boo. She was the much loved little dog to Shirlee Betty, a co-worker of Rich in Los Angeles. Shirlee ask me to do this art quilt of Boo as a birthday present to her husband. I sure hope he likes it. She really loved it. It was fun doing this. I felt like I almost knew her after spending almost three months making her coat, ears, eyes, month and nose. She had to have been loved so much. So wh...

quilting at balmoral cottage

Quilting at balmoral cottage. Sunday, March 22, 2015. I've been taking some courses at college, so last week my eyes were looking at books and not fabric. By Friday night, the paper had been written and the midterm taken so I rewarded myself with a little sewing! In fact it has turned into a bit of a buffet! The first thing I did was finish off this feather pillow. The bright colours give me a lift, reminding me that summer is just around the corner! Lastly, I'm including a quilt that I made last fall fo...
