Quilts n' Quirks: 4-H Quilt Camp Doubles in Size

http://quiltsnquirks.blogspot.com/2012/06/4-h-quilt-camp-doubles-in-size.html

Saturday, June 2, 2012. 4-H Quilt Camp Doubles in Size. Day two quilters with projects as completed by noon. Most kids had their projects finished by the time we left. 8220;Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.” (Chinese Proverb). If this is the case 32 Blanding youth now have a pretty good understanding of how to make a quilt. Day 1 photos taken at 3:30 shows what kids had completed on day 1- amazing. This is the 2. Ten members of the Grayson Country Quilt ...

Quilts n' Quirks: July 2011

http://quiltsnquirks.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 10, 2011. July Quilt Show 2011. We displayed over 100 quilts on the 4th of July. Steve along with many of husbands helped us put up the stands, Saturday night. Sunday we hung the rest of the quilts, and Monday AM early did the final touches. Everyone who came enjoyed the show. We had a wide variety of styles and patterns. Some of the Quilts I displayed. On the left is "Before", on the right is "after.". Hailey's birthday quilt made from her old T-shirts. I used fusible stablizer with a g...

Monday, August 6, 2012. Laurie Makes Quilt for Bella. Brendan and Laurie came down in August and stayed for about 5 days, and we did lots of fun things. While the guys fished and goofed off, Laurie and I choose fabrics from my stash, and then she stitched all the strips together. We initiated our new deck by tying the quilt outside. We hadn't counted on the fact that it was so sunny we had to wear shades, or that it would so hot! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 4th of July show. Blue Mt. Lodge. I pro...

Quilts n' Quirks: November 2011

Monday, November 7, 2011. T-shirt Memory Quilts- Step by Step. This one's for Daniel. This past summer I learned a new trick in making t-shirt quilts which worked pretty well, and seemed a little easier- at least for kid-sized quilts. I used pre-printed fusible bonding material which was printed diagonally (on point). You will also need a teflon ironing mat, or paper to iron through so you don't melt the t-shirt patters, and don't get the sticky fusing on your iron. Once everything is ironed into place, ...

Friday, July 20, 2012. Pining and Pinning Pinterest. July 2012 Provident Living Column. What a great age we live in. If it doesn’t replace them, you can at least get recommendations on what to read and watch from cyber friends whose opinion you value! From Pinterest I’ve learned more about things I already had a passion for, like sprouting seeds, making soap, and ways to save money (as well as spend it! Here is a recent recipe I found for a gourmet tinfoil dinner:. Foil-Pack Chicken and Broccoli Dinner.

ProvidentPonderings: The Name of the Game is Connecting to People

http://providentponderings.blogspot.com/2012/02/name-of-game-is-connecting-to-people.html

Sunday, February 26, 2012. The Name of the Game is Connecting to People. Blanding's Last Quilting Bee? Recently while quilting with eight other ladies at what may possibly have been the last quilting bee in Blanding, we began reminiscing about the “good old days.”. Eventually the topic turned to games we used to play when we were young, with families and friends before computer based technology started fragmenting lives and reducing interaction with real people. Merging research regarding “media-so...

Friday, June 8, 2012. 8220;Inebriate of Air am I”. Thanks, Emily Dickinson. Dickinson like William Blake loved nature and found in it, metaphors from which to extrapolate eternal truths. Blake pointed to nature when he wrote:. To see a World in a Grain of Sand. And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,. Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand. And Eternity in an hour. Hence my new found appreciation for mallow. Honesty, Hope, Trust in God, Humility, and Truth help prepare our soul for change. Adding the “l...Update ...

ProvidentPonderings: If you think you can, you can

http://providentponderings.blogspot.com/2012/09/if-you-think-you-can-you-can.html

Saturday, September 8, 2012. If you think you can, you can. Besides canners, food dryers and steamers are part of the preservation process. Canning season is upon us, and this year has already been a bumper crop for produce in Blanding. The provident person will make sure they capitalize on the opportunity to not only eat and enjoy, but can and dry everything possible while the opportunity is here. Often there is a late spring freeze and we are not blessed with so much fruit. Pick pears while they are st...

Thursday, January 5, 2012. Going Green this Year. Provident Ponderings Jan. 2012. Many of us give lip service to “green leafy vegetables” but shun letting them cross our plate or palate. There is probably no other single category of food that could change our lives for the better this year, than adding generous portions of “greens” to our diet. Recently I started sprouting seeds again in an effort to get the necessary “greens” for optimal health this winter. Value of sprouts is remarkable. Growing sprout...

Sunday, July 24, 2011. Families - Isn't it About Time. Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter. Hallelujah for summer - a time for family reunions and fun! You don't have to go to exotic beaches, or distant states to have a terrific family reunion. It will surely be a reunion long remembered and cherished. Our Granddaughter Laurie won a blue ribbon this year at the Tooele County Fair. This was her first quilt...

Nightmare on Elm Street. May actually be on your street, or in your own house or garage. You’ve probably uttered such questions yourself.
